A while back you mentioned liking some frozen burgers from BJs.  What
brand/type were they?  We'd like to try them.

When I wrote that, I was trying to distinguish between "top-five" and
"top-five-fast-food", but I guess that the fast food places are so far
below the radar for you that they get no list at all:-}}

Of the ones you named:

We will go to McDonalds occasionally, but not by design.  It is almost
only a default choice.

Long time ago, I used to like Wendy's -- but not since Dave died.

Very long time ago, I liked Arby's -- but that was when they actually
had real beef on a spit and carved off of it like a gyro.

I've never been to a Sonic or Checker's -- but next time you are here,
we could try a Checker's together just to say we have done so.

Jack In the Box left Columbia more than 30 years ago, and I've not been
to one since.  I'm not even sure I went to it when it was here.  That
location has seen a number of other chain restaurants, currently a
totally dead KFC.

Five Guys we liked when we first went there several years ago.  They
recently opened one in the mall which is much closer to us.  I'm a
little bit fearful that they have gone the way of being over franchised.
The one we went to was perhaps one of the first ten.  They were only in
the Washington DC and surrounding areas of Virgina and Maryland.  Now
they have hundreds and are spread pretty widely.  Keeping the level of
quality they had at first creates a different job for the company.

We like them, and like the other things they have besides burgers, e.g.
the onion rings and the shakes.  We recently went to a Fatburger and
thought it was also a pretty good burger -- but the bun was a failure.

We went to 99 on our tour of New England.  I wish we had one near to us.

There used to be a Friendly's not too far from us, but it closed down
and was replaced by a Chick-Fil-a years ago.  They are still in the area
but not too close.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: SOUTHWEST TORTE
 Categories: Mexican, Dairy, Vegetable, Meat
      Yield: 6 servings
 
      1 c  Cheddar Cheese; Shredded
    1/4 c  Ripe Olives; Sliced
      4    Bacon Slices; *
    1/2 c  Red Bell Pepper; Chopped
    1/2 c  Corn; Whole Kernel
      3    Eggs; Large
  1 1/2 c  Half & Half; Light Cream
    1/4 ts Red Pepper; Ground

MMMMM----------------------CORNMEAL PASTRY---------------------------
      1 c  Unbleached Flour
    1/3 c  Cornmeal; Yellow
      1 tb Oregano Leaves; Dried
    1/2 ts Salt
    1/2 c  Shortening; Vegetable
           Cold Water
 
  *  Bacon should be crisply cooked and crumbled.

CORNMEAL PASTRY:
  Mix flour, cornmeal, oregano and salt in a small bowl; cut in the
  shortening until the particles are the sixe of fine crumbs.  Sprinkle
  in the water, 1 Tbls at a time, tossing with a fork until the flour is
  moistened and pastry almost cleans the sides of the bowl (add 1 to 2
  teaspoons of water if necessary).
 
  Place the oven rack in the lowest position.  Heat the oven to 450
  degrees F.  Prepare Cornmeal Pastry; gather into a ball.  Press in
  the bottom and 2-inches up the sides of an ungreased springform pan,
  9 X 3-inches in size.  Sprinkle cheese, olives, bacon, bell pepper
  and corn in the pastry lined pan.  Beat eggs slightly, beat in
  remianing ingredients.  Pour into the springform pan.  Bake uncovered
  on the lowest oven rack for 20 minutes.  Reduce the oven temperature
  to 300 degrees F.  Bake until a knife inserted into the center comes
  out clean, about 30 minutes longer. Let the torte stand for 10
  minutes before cutting.
