============================
Hi Ruth,

-> Same with most any other language; the purest form gets taught but
-> everybody speaks a varient on it. Steve got told he spoke "textbook
-> German" by someone when we lived in Frankfurt.

RH> He probably did. The formal language doesn't change much, but no one
 RH> speaks it except foreigners.(G)

Same with English; if you had it as a 2nd language, you'ld probably not
understand my writing here. You would tho, on the paper I just wrote.

-> Unless the velvets find a new home first--dress for the niece? I'd like
-> to do one for Sarah but may use velour instead.

RH> Not with this stuff, not on a four year-old who isn't into dresses
 RH> yet.

But grand daughter is. Of course mommy still picks out what she wears.

-> RH> Most likely, and quite a few kids have gone that way. I have local
-> RH> friends who don't eat meat, but they're weird. (which would explain
->  RH> why they're my friends...)

-> We'll go meatless for short spells but never completly vegetarian. I
-> use a lot of complimentary proteins to make up for no meat. We like our
-> cheeses and such like. (G)

RH> I can go meatless for days at a time myself, but not forever.

I think I'd miss it too much. No Chick-Fil-A, no Texas Roadhoouse, no
Uncle Bubba's, no Smithfield BBQ................................you get
the picture.

-> Same as my senior year I did a semester of shop but did some jewelry
-> making in it. Still have a couple of those pieces.

RH> I still have a copper bracelet I made in 6th grade. Still wear it
 RH> too; it's a big cuff.

I can't wear the silver ring I made; it would fall off my finger. I
wear a smaller ring now than I did in high school. This one is non
adjustable too.

-> RH> chains except for the occasional unsweetened tea or coffee.

-> We get out and around a lot more than you do. (G) Had Chick-Fil-A on
-> Saturday, just as a treat.

RH> It doesn't take much; I eat out about once every three months.

How often are you out and about? Most weeks, I'm out of the house for
any number of activities. BTW, I was asked last night if I'd be able to
cook for some of the Wed. night suppers at church. Do they know what
they're getting into with that? (G)

RH> They're putting a bottle deposit on water bottles here.

Here too. HI had one on all drink containers of a quart or less, of 5
cents. In the year plus (probably about 19 months) after it went into
effect before we left, we collected less than 20 containers for our
church youth group's recycle program. Before it went into effect we
donated a lot more.

-> Yes, the kind of things to keep life going.

 RH> details I say. details

No, basics. Like chocolate--gotta have it to keep going.

-> RH> Exactly the opposite, but for all the wrong reasons.

-> I've had a few of those experiences.

RH> Used the salt instead of the sugar, did you?

No, just recipies that had the potential on paper but cooked up into a
less than impressive meal. I've been trying quite a few new ones since
we moved here; most have been keepers but a few have hit the paper
recycle bag.

Catch you later,
Ruth
