Bullfrog Brewery. It seems every one-horse burg has a brewery
these days, decorated with local memorabilia, smelling of spilled
wort and bleach. Serving a half-dozen made-on-premises specialty
brews and a half-dozen made-on-the-spot specialty sandwiches.
Williamsport has two. This is said to be the better of the two.
The nachos were standard bar fare. The burgers are said to be the
best in town. Well, as always, I could do better, but in fact
they are quite good, and rare comes rare. The beers were variable
in appeal though all well crafted. Luckily there was a sampler
available so I could decide which one to get a full order of.

Billtown Blonde was as nondescript as its name. I can get this
level of refresh from a 50c can of Yuengling Light. (From an ad for
a hair color product called Sheer Blonde Go Blonder by John Frieda:
"Inside every blonde is a blonder blonde waiting to get out." I
thought wickedly, what's the worst possible kind of government?
Communism? Capitalism? No: "the blonde leading the blonde." Which
reminds me of my friend T.J. Baehr's cynical characterization of the
educational system: "the bland leading the bland.") Anyhow, this
blonde was bland, and anyone who orders it a second time must be bl...
...oody stupid.

El Hefe. Is this Spanish or German? Hah, it's your banana and
clove bomb, a convincing estery imitation of a Weissbier. I
didn't finish even the 1/3 c sample and peddled it around the
table until it eventually went away.

Edgar IPA - pretty good; I thought it a bit hoppy for me this
day (I'd been drinking Yuengling of various kinds all week,
with the Black and Tan the hoppiest thing in the house) so
passed. Otherwise: eye-openingly hoppy, a lemon-grapefruit peel
aspect, an almost syrupy mouthfeel. 

Red - this was red. I wonder why they make the red style of
beer (though Killian's is arguably the best thing made by Coors).

Williamsporter - dark-roasted malts gave this an appealing
chocolate-coffee aspect; I enjoyed it a lot.

Killer Keller - a lightish beer redeemed by a fairly high
hopping rate; undistinguished.

H2O of Life - a low-alcohol wheaty beer that reminded me in a
bad way of Belgian muck (I believe that this was intentional on
the part of the brewers).

I continued with an encore of a pint of the porter.

Jenkins liver mush - I picked up a pound block of this, which
grossed everyone out. I pointed out that it was just scrapple,
give me a break, upon which Billy deigned to taste a slice and
agreed that it was perfectly okay though underseasoned.
