I've driven by Shiki many a time... but with no time to stop in.  Many
moon ago the same spot held a Dim Sum place owned and run by two sisters
one of whom had been our waitress for many years at Yang's where we went
frequently.  So we stopped in there a few times, especially for a couple
special occasions.

Very smoky?  Possibly added flavor...  There's what could be called a
slight smoky taste to the miso, but I wouldn't consider it to be VERY. 
But the more knowledgeable might know if there are miso varieties that
are considerably more smoky tasting than others...

You're sure it wasn't a slice of yam?  About the same color... and we
just had that last night at Arigato as one of the veggies in shrimp and
vegetable tempura...  :)

One of these days, I'm planning to get one of those... :)

Thank you for the review... I might actually get there, or more
specifically, get to stop there, and try it out... :)  Did you notice
what their hours are?
