Doctors always go for the pills first. Candida can be treated by
diet. Roslind has had two severe bouts of it several years apart and
dealt with it successfully both times by diet alone. At stage one you
eliminate ALL sugars, sugary foods including fruit and starches, as
they get digested into simpler sugars, including legumes and root
vegetables. You also eliminate all fermented, fungi bearing or
yeasty foods: mushrooms, cheeses, beer, wine, vinegar, pickles etc.
The first few days you consume nothing except boiled and raw leafy,
non-sweet and low-starch vegetables and vegetable broth. Allowed
foods are the cabbage family, lettuces, other greens, alliums,
capsicums, celery, cucumber and not much else. Lemon juice, herbs,
and herbal teas are also allowed. After a 3-7 day cleansing you can
resume eating fish and chicken. Gradually you resume eating more
foods. I forget the order and the timing details as it was a long
time ago but I'm sure such diets can be Googled easily. A side
benefit for most people during the cleansing period is a dramatic
weight loss.

      Title: Cabbage Soup (Cabbage Soup Diet), Adapted
 Categories: Tnt, Soups, Vegan, Low-Fat
      Yield: 1 Batch
 
      1    Head cabbage
      6 md Carrots; chopped
      6 md Onions; chopped
      6 md Green peppers; chopped
      3 md Tomatoes; chopped
      5    Stalks celery; chopped
           Salt
           Black pepper
           Herbs to taste
 
  All vegetables should be chopped into bite-size pieces. If fresh
  tomatoes are not available, you can substitute one 28-ounce can of
  tomatoes or diced tomatoes. Place all in a 8-quart pot and add
  enough cold water to cover. Boil 10 minutes uncovered, then cover
  and simmer over low heat until all vegetables are soft, perhaps an
  hour. When the soup is fully cooked, salt and pepper to taste and
  add the herbs. Makes 6 quarts.

  This is more palatable if you use one batch of vegetables for the
  broth, simmer 1 1/2 hours, strain and discard them and then add in
  fresh vegetables to the broth and simmer them for 10-20 minutes
  tops. For taste add V-8 juice and for for Candida diets skip the
  carrots. -JW
