-> We had an easy do supper.  On our last major run to Whole Foods Market,
-> I bought about 3-4 cups of a dry barley/bean soup mix.  I put a cup of
-> it on to soak last night.  Today I browned some beef soup bones, pulled
-> them out and then lightly sauteed some chopped orange and green bell
-> pepper & red onion.  To that I added the bean mix, a quart of beef
-> stock, a 14oz can of petite cut tomatoes, an 8oz can each of tomato
-> sauce and mushroom slices, and a couple of cups of cooked brown rice.  I
-> put the bones back in, also added about a tablespoon of dry vegetable
-> seasoning and let it cook for several hours.  There wasn't really any
-> meat on the bones but they added a good flavor.  It made enough for a
-> bowl each for supper with 2 1quart containers filled for later.  One
-> went into the freezer, the other the fridge for a quick lunch.  It
-> needed a bit of salt but overall, really good.   Fresh hot biscuits
-> would be good with it.

Sounds good, I usually have a supply of 
dried goods around the house so that I 
don't need to buy a "mix". But I have 
done so on occaision! I make it pretty
much the way you do as well. 
Plus any leftovers in the fridge usually
find their way in as well!
