====================================================================
Hi Hap,

-> Tuesday is long gone and Wednesday is approaching gone. It'll be
-> Thursday when you get this--I've been busy writing for school.

 hn> Thursday it is!~!

And now it's Friday; I'll upload on Saturday. Just one more writing
project for me this term--a 1-2 page paper due Thursday. Got a 97 on
the first book review. The second one and study questions were for the
intensive class I took last month.

-> hn> We've settled into our winter weather
-> hn> pattern, cool, wet, and wet and cool (grin)

-> We're very unsettled. After a start in the low 40s, today got up to the
-> high 70s and sunny. The next couple of daysare supposed to be like
-> Good soup/stew weather.

 hn> No frost here yet, temp this am when I got up
 hn> was 52 at 5:30am. Will get up to mid 60's for
 hn> the day, cloudy, as much a chance for rain as
 hn> there is for "sunbreaks".

When is the frost date for you? I understand it's about October 20 here
so we're a bit late. But, we still have tomatoes on the vine we'd like
to ripen so hopefully, it'll hold off a bit more. If not, we look into
making fried green tomatoes.

-> hn> evening when I go to bed, otherwise
-> hn> I'm doing ok, the pain is there, but
-> hn> tolerable, and preferred to the

-> One week post op and you're doing well. I couldn't even put any weight
-> on my knee until early August after I damaged it in late February.

-> hn> There's still some pain, and some stiffness.
 hn> I have not tried any "range of motion" things yet, will discuss
 those with Dr tomorrow at my post op appt.

Which you are having today & I'll read about it probably tomorrow or
Sunday (or Monday). Hopefully it is going well.

->  hn> woozy-ness of the drugs. I've got a
-> hn> combo of vicodin and oxycontin, both

-> Understood; that'll knock you out for a while.

 hn> If I take them too early in the evening
 hn> I'll just conk out on the couch till Anne
 hn> wakes me to let me know it's time to
 hn> go to bed (grin)!

Most of the time they don't affect me like that after the first few
days. But, better to take them than not, and have the pain.

-> hn> Difference between farm life and city

-> My parents were rural, not farm but lived outside of the main part of
-> town. They were white collar workers but Dad had been raised very blue
-> collar.

-> hn> life I expect (grin). My Grandparents
-> hn> raised almost all their own food, both
-> hn> meat and veg. Hunting and fishing were
-> hn> a big part of that as well. Freezer or
-> hn> smokehouse were the destinations
-> hn> for meats and such.

Typical for the time and area. Both of my parents were raised in urban
areas.

-> My dad wasn't a hunter or fisherman. My younger brother took up hunting
-> as an adult but doesn't rely on game (He'd starve if he did.) for his
-> meat.

 hn> For my grandparents (and parents) it
 hn> was a matter of budget as much as
 hn> anything else. enough Game meant
 hn> they didn't have to eat more of the
 hn> farm animals, and could breed or
 hn> sell the animal or it's meat to supplement
 hn> the budget.

I can undertand that. My dad worked over the summer between sophomore
and junior years of high school at the lumber yard where his dad worked.
Because he had some schooling, he was doing office work for 15
cents/hour vs the 10/cent his dad made in the yard. His parents weren't
happy that he quit the job and went back to school in the fall.

-> -> BTW, how is your mom doing?

->  hn> She's doing great! Physically she's
-> hn> done a great recovery, (that hospital
-> hn> stay worked wonders for her) and
->  hn> emotionally I think she's dealing

-> Good, I'm happy to hear that.

 hn> Me too, I was worried about her. I call her
 hn> at least once a week, (usually more often)
 hn> to chat and see how she's doing.

We try to do that with our parents too.

-> hn> buns are just a bit easier to hold (grin)

-> Just a bit easier but we have the bread on hand. We'd have to buy buns
-> or make them.

 hn> I'd have to buy either one.
 hn> haven't had that in a good while.
 hn> Might consider it this next week or so!

It's always a good one to have. I like to add mushrooms and garlic as
well.

-> -> Steve can use it for hs hot sauce--he has it filled and we don't have
-> -> any other empty bottles yet.

->  hn> bummer!

-> Indeed! I need to get another bottle emptied out but we aren't using
