We keep some oil lamps handy (but need to get some oil) for thosetimes
when the power is flaky.  Don't know what it is like here in the winter;
it was pretty good over the summer.  Last night, tho, a couple of the
UPSs beeped briefly so there must have been a momentary power "blip" or
two.  I'd rather not try to read by the light of an oil lamp, battery
lamp (have a number of those too), candle or our propane lantern but
have done so enough times in my life time.

We had several extended power outages in HI; one of them was right near
the time supper was almost ready.  Steve pulled out the propane stove so
we could finish cooking it and we ate by lantern light.  I'd rather cook
with gas than electric power, but we've had nothing but electric stoves
since we left AZ (March of 2001).  We've given most of our camping gear
away but kept the propane stove and lantern--they have been nice to have
when the power has gone out.
