Ärende: Re: Prism BBS
=====================
Hello Dave,

>DD>So now I have belt (FidoTel), suspenders (Doc's) and galoshes (Prism).

>LL>Oh my God! You look just like Justin Wilson! "I gar-on-tee!" :)

>DD>I'll took that as a compliment. Thankee veddy veddy much.

>LL>Justin was an engineer (or claimed to be), and made darned sure he did
>LL>what he had to do to keep his pants from sliding down. :)

DD>He were. He came to Louisiana from Florida to work as a civil engineer. Then
DD>the cooking thing and story telling happened ... and the rest is history.

Some folks are born storytellers. And Justin was one of them.
Although he was from Florida, he made Louisiana his home. And the
people here loved him for his humor, and for who he was, naming him
an honorary Cajun. There are, and were, better Cajun chefs than
Justin. But the simple tricks he employed, such as using the palm
of his hand to measure salt, are tried and true.

>DD>It's a good thing I was wearing the galoshes (unlike the "coon-ass
>DD>cowboy boots" that Justin wore) as I am having a problem uploading
>DD>reply packets to Prism BBS from the HTTP connection. I left a
>DD>question in their aptly named "Ask A Question" section ... but,
>DD>haven't heard back yet.

>LL>I find telnet just as simple to use as http. With the added benefit
>LL>of playing games. :)

DD>As soon as I suck it up and set up the TelNet client I will likely go back t
DD>using it. I haven't played games on a BBS since I used to have hot and heavy
DD>Scrabble contests on a local board.

Some BBSes have only games, and no message areas. The weirdest BBS
that I had once logged on to had games, but also had one message area.
The rule for the message area was that one participant a month could
get voted out by the other participants. That was the rule. The
only rule. After sitting out a month, that participant could return.
Since everything was public, it was very easy to tell that nobody
knew how to count. And the moderator was non-existent. My guess
is that the moderator was also the sysop of the BBS, and allowed
for anything goes. Talk about anarchy in its purest form.

>DD>Taking this to my brother's as a last-minute side dish ... with the
>DD>substitution of a 1# sack of ripple cut adult carrots - mostly because I
>DD>already had them on hand.

>LL>Carrots. Reminds me of a girl I once knew in college. Every time
>LL>I saw her she was munching on a raw carrot. Didn't matter what time
>LL>of day it was - early morning, noon, or late afternoon. The strangest
>LL>thing was she had orange hair. And then one day I saw her munching on
>LL>a stalk of celery. Apparently because she had run out of carrots. I
>LL>was just thankful her hair did not turn green. A pale shade of green.

DD>I used to date a girl with green hair ... also purple, blue, orange, etc. I
DD>think her mother ate a box of Crayola crayons when she was preggers with the
DD>girl ... and that influenced her desire to change hair shades (sometimes twi
DD>in the same day).

She probably got the idea from a former Chicago Bulls basketball
player...
