Ärende: Merry Christmas Charlotte!!
===================================
Hi Carol,

 > Edited the subject header to make it more appropriate to the season. The
 > wishes are for all of you tho.

CS> Thanks! She's making out like a bandit this year ;-)

I read a bit ago about the haul she's making. We're doing several
things for the grand kids, getting sent out Monday after I finish sewing
Sarah's dress & pantaloons (with a little "purse" bag) but not much for
others besides our kids & parents. Robert is getting one thing he's
gotten from us every year since he was old enough (3) to get it--a Hess
gas vehicle. I sort of wish now I could have started with them the year
he was born but had no Hess stations in AZ or HI.

 > CS> Israel? Cool!

CS> I'm sure that will happen a few times. Tell us what you can recall
 CS> when you get back?

We will; keeping journals should help to jog our memories. I think
Steve is planning on taking a small digital recorder & video (as well as
still) camera. We'll probably make notes on any interesting foods/meals
too.

 > should have it finished by Friday afternoon to maybe go out Saturday.
 > That and get some Christmas goodies made.

CS> I have all but the cards mailed out now. CT Ruth sent me an
CS> interesting lumpy package! I am opening that probably Xmas Eve.

Sounds like fun. Going to write up anything food related?

CS> Mom got *chocolate*, warm gloves, a hat to remind her Spring
will CS> come, and some other stuff.

Fun. We've picked up things here & there but not really designated as
Christmas gifts for each other. Things for the trip, school, etc. I
got some new sweaters and a "beanbag" lap desk since I do most of my
computer work on the EeePC while curled up in the living room love seat.

 > Same here, but the rice cooker gets a fair amount of use still.

CS> Yes. Down to 2 times a week or so for the ricemaker. More breads and
 CS> such slipping in.

CS> Funny how fast i soak up 'local cookery' yet never will I totally lose
CS> the flavor of places I've been. Just like in Japan, I still was
CS> generating 'southern cooking' even if ingredients shifted due to
 CS> available items.

It's the same with me. I cooked southern, German, southwestern, etc in
HI. Now that we're back in the south, HI has been added to the mix. (G)

 > CS> Yup, there too. 1988 on? Drifted off around 1995 from Crafting.

 > It died out a few years later, as well as the Sew & Quilt and Cross
 > Stitching echoes. Some of it was personality conflict, some just lack
 > of interest. At times I miss the S&Q one.

CS> I only barely recall those as I was scanning at best in them.

I was reading them more. They were fun while they lasted until people
started sniping at each other. That's what I like about here; as a
general rule, we're usually pretty well behaved.

 > CS> (Picnics)

 > CS> Got a date in late May? We dont want to get too close to hurricane
 > CS> season so has to be late May, early June to hit here. Northern
 > CS> critters will melt on the porch later in the year ;-)

 > I'll check the seminary calendar & get back to you on it. Since we're
 > not graduating this year, we don't have to stick around for it. We are
 > going to the Dec. graduation ceremony this Friday; someone that used to
 > be in our church (now back in Uganda) is getting his doctorate.

CS> OK! It's all chanagable. As far as we know now, you are the only one
CS> with a date range besides matching the temps and hurricane season.

The last day of classes is May 26, semester officially ends the 27th.
Depending on when Steve's finals are scheduled, how many are on line and
the windows he has for taking them will determine his exact finish date.
I think I'm done on the 20th.

Catch you later,
Ruth
