On Dads shopping...

Wish me luck.  Don's shopping with Charlotte at the local Walmart.  I am not
fond of Walmart's policies but this one is close enough to walk back from and
he took a cab over.

Me, I'm trying to figure out how to get a rice bag to stick to the middle of
my back <g> and playing catchup with an astounding 1300 messages here over
the last 3 weeks!  I've scanned for ones 'just to me' and replied to most of
those but now to see what everyone has been up to!

For us, it was funny this past week.  The shop decided Thursday to have an
impromptu potluck.  Now, not everyone brings something every time.  This time
our IT2 lady (not posting names) wanted to make up a big batch of Spagetti
and try it on us.  The 3 guys and I were of course game!  So, one of the
guys (IT3) brought in salad (just normal stuff, mixed possibly from a bag but
quite fresh) and one of the other guys brought in 2 bottles of ranch
dressing.  Me?  Of course they wanted garlic bread!

Well, I didnt have time after work to make it before the next night, so call
made to home.  Had Charlotte for the first time, make up a breadmaker batch
of regular white all on her own.  She had to even find a recipe out of the
book.  (Don at this stage was freaking, 'Carol, cant it wait til you get
home?  Nope dear).  Ok, so Charlotte finds one but it needs milk and we are
out.  She's about to skip over to Rye and such when I tell her to read me the
rest of the recipe.  All's good, just needed one cup of milk.


Now us cooks know how to deal with that.  Charlotte does too but wasnt
thinking of it.  I told her to take a cup of water and add 1 TB dry milk
powder from the 'Sanalac' dry milk powder can and stir that up.  Whala!  Milk
good enough for baking <g>. Ok, she got off the phone and the guys startedf
making bets on just how many minutes it would be til I got the expected panic
call from the hubby.  ITC won dead on, with 5 mins.

Don wasnt sure how to turn the machine on or the settings.  Grin, I picked
that recipe out as it was a 1.5lb standard 'white' bake which is the default
of the machine.  (Dear, plug it in and just press 'start').  The IT2 with the
spagetti was in gales of giggles.  Charlotte in the background was trying to
tell Daddy just to hit start.

Don had one other task.  To take out a stick of butter from the freezer and
set it in the fridge.  In the morning, all I had to do was make sure we didnt
have a hockey puck in the breadmaker (it came out perfect!  Sometimes though
it does flop so am happy her first trial by herself came out well!) then get
Don to slice it.  I took the stick of butter and added it to a container with
dried parsley, fresh cracked black pepper, and garlic powder plus a little MS
Dash.  Rolled the butter around and we had a coated flavor stick which we
spread on the bread to eat with our spagetti <g>.

2 of the guys are considering getting a breadmaker now since they just had
proof how very easy it is.
