We have always done our gift exchange on Christmas Eve -- perhaps dating
back to when my mother usually worked as a nurse on Christmas Day.
Tonight was the same.  Both of our children and their spouses came, plus
the three grandkids.  Gail puts out a spread of snack type food.
A variety of crackers, several sorts of cheese, a beef summer sausage, a
smoked salmon spread (made from salmon I smoked and then froze much
earlier in the year), a ham and cheese spread and then a half dozen
types of Christmas cookies that she has made in the past few weeks.

The two youngest grandkids got most of the boxes, but the other adults
did ok with a variety of items and gift certificates.

Then tomorrow we have a sit down Christmas dinner with our daughter and
her family -- our son will be going to his mother in law's house.  Menu
is a spiral cut ham ($0.99 per pound from Super Fresh), scalloped
potatoes, green been casserole, and a fruit salad made with Coolwhip.
There are pies for dessert.  Hopefully, our daughter will take some of
the leftovers home -- although somehow ham seems to just evaporate in
this house.

Then the next day or so, it will be back to Super Fresh who is
advertising boneless center cut pork loin for $0.99 per pound.  We
wanted one of those the other day when we were snowed in, but didn't
have any in the freezer.
