I picked up several necklaces on the trip.  On our last morning I went
down to breakfast a few minutes before Steve.  One of the men in another
tour led/hosted by our company gave me a fish of nails on a cord, and
another one for Steve.  There are a lot of street vendors selling
scarfs, postcards, bookmarks, etc; one lady in our group bought from
several selling necklaces (usually stone or beads) at $10./4.  She found
out she had 2 the same of varied brown stones with gold beads between so
she gave me one.  We bought a set of malachite beads alternating with
gold from a Bedouin vendor; I also got (in various places) a gold
pomegrante set with Saworski crystals, a widow's mite/Roman glass set in
an 18K gold mounting and an 18K charm (to be used as a necklace) with
the Hebrew letters that translate (roughly) as "to (your) life", a
silver menorah (gift) and shell on a cord with a fishing boat set in
clear lucite.  Jewelry junkie?

We had supper the one night in Bethlehem.  It was similar to the buffets
we had in other places but the first place where we had felafal balls.
After that, they seemed to show up on a regular basis on the buffet
line. The line would always have chicken (usually roasted), fish (fried
or baked), and beef--either in stew, goulash ar roast beef. I'd never
seen carrot balls until I saw them in the beef stew.  Some lowly cook's
assistant must spend hours making them!  As pretty as they are, I doubt
I'll add them to my beef stew, slices or chunks are a lot easier to do.
