Especially Jim Campbell. He organised and led one of the first fire companies
from outside the immediate area to respond to the 9-11 attack in NYC, every
year he puts on an event called "Open Fields" in which he has set aside an acre
or so of chilies for Chile-heads from the Chile-heads list to congregate on a
weekend in September and pick (freely and for free) all they want of the
largess of his plantings. It started as a one-off and has become an annual
event somewhat analagous to the echo picnics. 
 
You've had some of his product - the BBQ sauces I brought to the Maryland
picnic were from Bro' Jim's Mild to Wild company and most of the chile in the
rub was from him as well.
 
The BBQ sauce was sweeter than I prefer. But, it seemed to go over well -
especially the "Fiery Hot Habanero Sauce" with Dale's son. Although, I must say
I wasn't all that hot - not nearly as hot as what I expected the first time I
tried it. My favourite of all Jim's BBQ sauces is his "Smokin' Chipotle" which
has a tiny amount of bite, smoky chile flavour and is nicely thick.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Brazilian BBQ Sauce
 Categories: Sauces, Chilies, Bbq
      Yield: 16 servings

      3 c  Red wine vinegar
    1/4 c  Crushed red chilies *
      1 c  Onion
      2 ts Parsley
      2 ts Garlic
      1 ts Sugar
      1 ts Kosher salt
      1 ts Dried basil
      1 ts Dried marjoram
      1 ts Rosemary
      1 ts Dried thyme

  Combine ingredients. Mix well and cover. Chill for up to 4
  weeks. Use as a basting or dipping sauce

  * I used rocoto peppers. But, any pungent capsicum will
  work here. This is more like a Carolina BBQ sauce than
  a more traditional KC or Texas sauce.
