He jokingly referred to Ocean Shores as Open Sores because of the large 
amounts of money that was poured into it and it was still bleeding the 
investors dry.  He's "retired", CHF, and his brother, I think there's 
only one in your part of the world, works at the mill loading 
sawdust/chips into freighters bound west.  He originally came from 
Vermont or New Hampshire or one of them microstates on the other coast 
and the rest of his family is back there.  We hitchhiked from Boston to 
Denver, where I was from, in...hmmm...1970 I guess it was.  Got dirty 
looks from everybody when we were dropped off in Muskogee Oklahoma, yeah 
it really exists.  Both of us fresh out of the Navy but our hair was to 
long since it'd been weeks since we'd gotten it cut.  Took a bus out of 
that town.  Later I was the best man at his wedding and even later we 
worked on a seiner in Ketchikan one summer.  He went on to a crab boat 
out of Dutch Harbor in the Aleutians before returning to sanity and 
going back to Seattle.

About what I figured.  Years ago we flew into Seattle and rented a small 
motorhome.  Drove on over to Aberdeen and then down the coast to Coos 
Bay Oregon before returning to Seattle on I-5.  Our purpose was to scout 
out retirement prospects, meaning winter places.  Later Connie started 
having aches/pains in her hands.  I decided that the Great North Wet 
wasn't the place to be, now we're in Arizona for the winter.  This is 
after looking really hard at south Georgia.
