===========
Hi Ruth,

-> RH> I'd have to use the stairs to get at my Tupperware bowl, so I

-> I'd have to use a step stool.

 RH> That's a little safer than the stairs, but not much.

Better that than a chair with wheels, especially on an uncarpeted
surface. That's how I broke my wrists.

-> That's a priority one for counter space for us. Same as the can opener
-> and toaster oven. Lesser priority items are stowed away.

 RH> My toaster oven is now out on an enclosed porch; we never used it

We got one at a Korean market last summer when we visited Dale & Gail.
It has a very small foot print because it's more vertcal (2 smaller
shelves) than horizontal (the usual one longer shelf). Works for us
with limited counter space.

 RH> anyway. The can opener is a manual; the electric ones never worked
 RH> properly.

I broke down and got one when I had to open a lot of cans for making
chili for a large group while we were in AZ. The wrists weren't strong
enough to do the job; I had to borrow a neighbor's can opener. Within a
few days, we had our own.

-> RH> hand mixer, but I don't like the noise.

-> One word for the noise--ear plugs (ok, 2 words).

 RH> Been there, got those.

Need stronger ones, like what is used around airports, etc?

-> RH> He was really useful when Mom made applesauce in the fall.

-> I would suspect so. Do you do it in his place now or do you have one of
-> those gizmos that peels, cores and slices?

 RH> I had one, but only used it a few times. It's easier to do them by
 RH> hand.

It's your choice.

-> RH> A lot of people are like that; I've never understood the mindset.

-> He's just had no desire or incentive to learn. He had a desk job with
-> NY DMV, ate his noon meal in the cafeteria there. Came home and supper
-> was either non cook or toaster oven, then microwave. Breakfast was
-> probably the same. Now that he's retired, lunch is like that as well I
-> suspect.

 RH> Uck.

Agreed!

-> They may have it in some but I don't know for sure, doubt it tho.
-> Tabasco landed the hot sauce contract so they're doing good.

 RH> The tabasco pepper may become an endangered species.

Doubtful, a little bit of heat goes a long way. Besides, there are those
that don't want the heat; they probably give the bottles away to the
"hot heads".

-> RH> The animals don't always whisper though; they used to just sort of
->  RH> pounce.

-> No, they think we whisper "come here, you'll get lots of attention" and
-> then they pounce.

 RH> Cats just sort of yell at me until I do their bidding.

You've got strange cats. (G)

-> RH> It was worse. No added sugar. If it had been tasteless it would
 RH> have
->  RH> been better.

-> Not even honey? GAG!

 RH> Double gag. We fed about 90% of it to the back yard critters.

Did they like it?

-> Doubt I'll ever see any, except the clips they had on the news last
-> night. Also, the guy & the dog for Doritos was one produced locally, on
-> a low budget but it got those involved some $600,000. to split. Cool
-> cash. Found out (story in the local paper) that Doritos may sign the
-> dog; she liked the chips better than the dog treats.

 RH> That's not surprising. I had a cat who liked doritos too.

No surprise there; we've had cats & dogs that liked strange things. Sam
liked a lot of vegetables.

Catch you later,
Ruth
