That's mostly because there is nothing much worth watching on the glass teat as
it is. What little there is seems to be on PBS. Even the History Channel, which
at one time had lots of stuff that was worthwhile has succumbed to reality
(yeah, right) shows like Pawn Stars and that phony DI military geek.

-> Do you have an outside antenna, or do you depend on some form of rabbit
 -> ears?

RH> I use cable TV. No antenna.

That's why you don't get any reception, then.

-> With a tall enough mast and antenna you *should* be able to pull stuff
-> from up to 100 miles away. Which *should* include NYC, Boston and
-> Albany, NY. As well as Springfield, MA and other Connecticut cities.
-> Sometimes local programming is way more interesting than network dreck.

RH> That used to happen on occasion. In parts of the state, no external
RH> antenna in use, I used to get both New York and Boston. The over the
RH> air signals from Springfield used to be great too, but it's been almost
RH> 20 years since I got TV that way.

For me it was 10 years since the owners of this trailer camp had a deal with
the former cable company not to allow antennae to be erected. I checked with
the maintenance guy and the agreement has expired - so the landlords don't care
anymore.

-> RH> That's more than I'd get. Fortunately we just got the digital

-> RH> (long may they rot) has decided to do away with 90% of the

-> RH> I'd get FIOS, but there are logistical problems that make

-> You could always get a TeeVee with an ATSC tuner (digital) in it. Then

RH> Laugh here. If I had a hard time pulling in anything on analog, how
RH> would I get it with digital?

Your cable company ($cumco$t) sends the digital signal down the same wire as
the analog signal. If you have a digital tuner (or a dual tuner) in your glass
teat you don't need to rent their external tuner/converter box. They don't like
their sheeple knowing that, however, so they don't bandy that information
about.

-> don't/shouldn't need the converter box. Telling people with digital
-> glass teats that they *need* a digital converter box (at extra cost)
-> is just another way the barstids rip-off their captives.

RH> It's for cable, not OTA.

So? See above.

-> Who is your "local" cable company? $cumco$t? Time-Warner? CableVision?
-> Charter? They're all thieves but $cumco$t is the absolute worst of the
 -> lot.

RH> Comcast. They're reliable, but they're also expensive.

$cumco$t is expen$ive. Reliable? I dunno. Wouldn't count on it.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

Title: Frog Spawn in Pond Scum
 Categories: Grains, Snacks, Chilies
      Yield: 14 servings

     13 oz Pkg lemon-lime Kool-Aid
      1 c Sugar
      8 c Water
473 ml Can (16 oz) orange juice
           - concentrate
      4 c Ginger ale or Vernor's
      3 Scoops orange or lime
           - sherbet
     14 Gummy frogs
    8.7 oz Pkg (250 g) MiracleNoodle
           - mini pearls; rinsed,
           - drained
     14 Straws; large diameter, from
           - McDonald's or Sonic
           Black food coloring

This sick-colored punch looks disgusting but tastes divine.

Empty the Kool-Aid package into a punch bowl. Add the sugar,
then the water and stir until dissolved. Stir in the orange
juice and Mini Pearls. Just before serving, float the scoops
of sherbet on top and add a gummy frog to the edge of each
glass for added effect. To make them stick, slice open their
belly slightly and stick to the edge of the glass. The kids
have fun slurping up the mini pearls with their straws.

  Serves 14.

Optional - Perhaps try to dye the minipearls a different
color by allowing them to sit overnight in a bowl of dyed
water. Dry roast them first so they will absorb more dye.
