Fedora 12 currently.  Every version of Fedora has been markedly better
than its predecessor after the initial glitches have been worked out
(such as not wanting to boot the live CD version on an Acer Aspire One
D250 netbook).  I like Fedora since my initial contact with Linux years
ago was Red Hat 5.2.  I have tried others, but always end up coming back
to Fedora for my main use.  I have also used Mint, and really like that.
The problem there is that it doesn't do encrypted partitions as easily
as Fedora.  I think that is changing though as the latest Mint looked
like it had an option for encryption (finally).

Ruth's EeePC has Xandros.  That is only because I have not yet changed
it over to a newer distro.  The EeePC's problem is that it is stuck with
old versions of Firefox, Thunderbird, and OpenOffice. For class work,
she really needs updated versions.

Well, there is a reason for me using Vista.  It probably would not be
possible to use the restore disks for the original XP since the virtual
machine would not be recognized and I would not want it to mess up
anything. I already have Windows 7 installed on a physical hard drive.
That left the Vista license free for the virtual machine.  I realize
that it is not the greatest version, but it did install and I even got
it validated in the virtual machine.  If it does die, it is no great
loss as I do have the W7 installation if needed. The reason for the
virtual machine is that I don't want to keep shutting down Linux in
order to boot Windows for the occasional times I need it.

Once I really get comfortable with the virtual machine process, I may
wipe out the physical Windows installation and turn the W7 into a
virtual machine.  If I do that, then I can get rid of the Vista virtual
machine.  If I could get a legal, valid, cheap copy of Windows XP, I
would use that instead and leave the W7 physical copy alone.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.04

      Title: Sesame-Herb Chicken Breasts
 Categories: Poultry, Main dish
      Yield: 2 servings

      2 lg Chicken breasts, split
    1/4 c  Butter, melted (1/2 stick)
      2 tb Parmesan cheese, grated
    1/2 ts Salt
    1/8 ts Pepper
    1/8 ts Thyme leaves, crumbled
      2 tb Sesame seeds

    Rinse and dry chicken breasts.  Combine melted butter, Parmesan
  cheese, salt, pepper and thyme.  Dip each breast in butter mixture,
  place skin side up in aluminum foil pan. Cover securely with aluminum
  foil. Place under broiler about 4 inches from heat for about 15
  minutes. Turn chicken, cover with foil and cook 10 minutes on other
  side.
    Add sesame seeds to remaining butter mixture. Remove foil and
  spread a spoonful of sesame seed mixture on top of each breast.
  Return to broiler for 3 to 5 minutes or until sesame seeds are
  browned. Serve with pan juices.
