Perhaps the Japanese increased their country's prosperity by just
working harder and better?  This seems to be how other countries have
done it.

Having eaten some excellent goat in Monterrey, the thought of Taco
Bell, with French Fries replacing it is very depressing.

How far does a baseballer have to scamper to score a run?  It is only
22 yards (one chain) in cricket.  Does he get a "4" if his ball
reaches the boundary, or a "6" if he gets it clear over the fence?  Is
it possible to score a century in baseball in one innings?

Having done that, I prefer not to stay there longer than is necessary

All very entertaining.  I certainly agree with correspondents re Delhi
and LAX, and wait with trepidation for CDG.  Most people spoke well of
the new Hongkong airport, but they would have travelled on major
airlines.  JetstarAsia and other cheapies operate from deep in the
bowels of the airport, with a shuttle bus to take them to their
distant aircraft.  Not so magnificent.

I see that from the end of 2010 Air New Zealand will be introducing on
some long-haul flights, economy class bed seats - the "Skycouch" -
designed for couples, combining a row of 3 flat-surface seats, for the
price of 2 1/2 economy seats.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Baked Fish Steaks (Nz)
 Categories: New zealand, Seafood
      Yield: 4 servings
 
      6    Fish steaks, tamure
           -(snapper), or hapuka
           -(groper)
    1/2 c  Milk
    1/2 ts Salt
      1 c  Dry breadcrumbs
      2 oz Butter
           Watercress or parsley
           Sliced lemon
 
  1. Lay the fish in a shallow dish. Pour the milk over the steaks and
  add salt and pepper. Leave to soak one hour.
  
  2. Drain the milk away and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  
  3. Lay the steaks in a buttered baking dish. Melt the butter and pour
  over the fish.
  
  4. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
  
  5. Serve garnished with sliced lemon and sprinkled with watercress.
