Certainly not because of any insulation in the interior walls - this shack is
cheaply built with every legit (and some questionable) short-cut known to the
business taken in its construction.

Well, it's a Tappan - a well known brand back in the day. The only example of
that brand I have ever owned so I have no comparison. I will say that the timer
is accurate, the built-in clock still is accurate to within a minute or so a
month and the thermostat settings agree spot-on with an independent oven
thermometer. So I'm not going to replace it anytime soon.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Tappan Hill Brownies
 Categories: Cakes, Desserts, Chocolate, Nuts
      Yield: 20 pieces

       8 oz Semisweet baking chocolate
       2 oz Unsweetened chocolate
       8 oz Sweet butter
     1/2 c  Flour
   1 1/2 ts Baking powder
     1/2 ts Salt
       3 lg Eggs
       1 c  + 2 tb sugar
       1 tb Vanilla extract
   1 1/2 c  Semisweet chocolate chips
   1 1/2 c  Chopped walnuts; opt
 
  Preheat oven to 350øF. Grease 8" x 11" pan.
 
  Break the semisweet and unsweetened chocolate into 1 oz
  pieces.
 
  Bring the butter to a boil in a medium size saucepan. Add
  both chocolates and immediately remove from heat. Stir until
  the chocolate melts completely. 
 
  Combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl,
  set aside.
 
  Combine the eggs and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer.
  Beat until the mixture is very thick and forms ribbons when
  you lift the beaters away from the batter. 
 
  Add the vanilla and blend lightly. Add the melted chocolate
  and mix lightly. 
 
  Gently fold the flour mixture into the chocolate batter with
  a spatula. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts..Spread
  batter in greased pan.
 
  Bake for 35 to 40 mins, when done, a cake tester in the
  center will have a little batter clinging to it.. Do not
  over bake. Cool in pan.
