Hi Ruth,

It's great for comic relief Lol.. unless you have to get to the bathroom to pee
in a hurry.. then trying to make your way without breaking your neck on all
these guys trying to trip you can be not fun :) So you learn to go more often
:)

I just used to use a good strong hand towel, but if I had to bring the cat any
distance, a bath towel would do. Once when my one of my kitties when I was
growing up, had a bad accident.. my brother actually closed the door on her
tail (boy was I upset with him!) Mom and I had to get her to the vet fast and
at the time we didn't have a pet carrier.. so I held her on my lap in the car
wrapped up in a bath towel.. only way I could hold on to her.. she ended up
losing her tail, so she looked really cute but you know it must have felt
miserable at first.. she was a pretty calico kitty.

Cocker Spaniels are such pretty dogs! I had one once that I named Chester
because he howled so much.. after Chester Burnett, a blues singer who went by
the 'handle' of Howlin' Wolf (g). He was a particolor cocker and really
gorgeous with his long hair (which always got soooooo matted if I didn't keep
up with the brushing) (g).

> OOPS, we didn't mean to say it. Yeah, right!

Exactly what I thought :( Well, my vet agrees with me that some of these
rescues are not so great.. they mean well, but some of their practices are a
problem. The pups obviously got bordetella just before they got their vaccines
at the rescue... and gave it to Toby the first week they were here :( So toby
is on antibiotics now and he's taking a pertussin type drug to control his
cough.. poor guy it's the first time he's really been sick except for years and
years ago when he had a reaction to his bordetella vaccine. I contacted the
rescue to let them know about it.. I didn't want any of their other puppies to
get it and someone not notice.. They told me that the puppies probably got it
in their trip from down south to NY since they stop off at another rescue where
the pups are kept in a barn with a large number of other puppies.. What a bad
idea :( :( But the pups are recovering already and didn't need any meds for
it, probably because of the vaccine they got.

>>> Close at least :) They were 8weeks old on 3/27/2010.

>> > So, late January--early puppies.

>> Yep (g)..

> As long as they're healthy......................

They are except for a little touch of bordetella.. The vet is happy with their
growth, etc. and boy is Indy growing fast! He eats a ton every day though
haha so it makes sense :) He's going to be a big boy :)

>>> I saw the funniest cake on one of the cooking channel's programs.. a

>> It looked like it on the TV :) :)

> Probably made a mess of things.

Yep he did Lol.. but he looked like a happy dog too :)

Yep, understand.. this echo does that to me all the time Lol

===Olive Oil Cake===
3/4 cup olive oil (extra-virgin if desired), plus additional for
       greasing pan
     1 large lemon
1 cup cake flour (not self-rising)
5 large eggs, separated, reserving 1 white for another use
     3/4 cup plus 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

Special equipment: a 9-inch (24-cm) springform pan; parchment paper

Extra virgin oil is best, but regular olive oil can be used. Put oven rack in
middle position and preheat oven to 350F. Grease springform pan with some oil,
then line bottom with a round of parchment paper. Oil parchment.

Finely grate enough lemon zest to measure 1 1/2 teaspoons and whisk together
with flour. Halve lemon, then squeeze and reserve 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon
juice.

Beat together yolks and 1/2 cup sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer at
high speed until thick and pale, about 3 minutes. Reduce speed to medium and
add olive oil (3/4 cup) and reserved lemon juice, beating until just combined
(mixture may appear separated). Using a wooden spoon, stir in flour mixture (do
not beat) until just combined.

Beat egg whites (from 4 eggs) with 1/2 teaspoon salt in another large bowl with
cleaned beaters at medium-high speed until foamy, then add 1/4 cup sugar a
little at a time, beating, and continue to beat until egg whites just hold soft
peaks, about 3 minutes.

Gently fold one third of whites into yolk mixture to lighten, then fold in
remaining whites gently but thoroughly.

Transfer batter to springform pan and gently rap against work surface once or
twice to release any air bubbles. Sprinkle top evenly with remaining 1 1/2
tablespoons sugar. Bake until puffed and golden and a wooden pick or skewer
inserted in center of cake comes out clean, about 45 minutes. Cool cake in pan
on a rack 10 minutes, then run a thin knife around edge of pan and remove side
of pan. Cool cake to room temperature, about 1 1/4 hours. Remove bottom of pan
and peel off parchment, then transfer cake to a serving plate.

===

Take care,
Janis
