Toss all that, and just have one little camera that does everything.
OK, I know it doesn't do it as well as your stuff - yet - but they are
getting better.  My small, $300 video camera will macro down to 15mm,
with telephoto to x30.  SD cards go to 32 Gig.  Laptops have shrunk to
"i" sized devices.  Tripods can collapse up to almost nothing.  Then
you will have space in your camera bag for your lunch and a bottle of
good wine.  (G)

(Now I have upset you!  Sorry.  I know it is much more fun using all
the equipment.  Think of the fun that Scott's photographer had taking
photos in Antarctica, with glass plate negatives!)

I am familiar with the amount of stuff photographers used to have to
lug around, as one of my daughters used to be a professional
photographer - weddings and babies - until she moved into graphic
design, and on occasions I had to help her.

All you need is money to buy new stuff every year!

Re modernisation, my 5 yo g'daughter saw me winding my wall clock and
asked me what I was doing.  She was quite unaware that clocks existed
which were not powered by batteries.

      Title: A MODERN MIXED GRILL

      Yield: 4 servings
 
      4    Lamb kidneys; skinned
      8    Lamb chops; OR
           8    ; lamb cutlets
      4    Lamb sausages; eg merguez
      2    Eggfruits; sliced
      2 tb Olive oil; for grilling
      2 tb Lemon juice
      1 ts Lemon zest; grated
      1    Garlic cloves; crushed
      2 tb Parsley leaves; chop fine
      1 tb Capers- salted; rinsed
           Sea salt
           Pepper
      4 tb EVOO
    100 g  Spinach leaves, baby; wash
      1    Lemons; quartered

  Update the mixed grill of yesteryear by doing an all-lamb platter
  teamed with grilled eggplant and a lemon and caper dressing. An
  ice-cream scoop of mashed potato is always an option.
  
  Heat a cast-iron grill or barbecue and lightly oil. Cut the kidneys
  in half and core. Season the kidneys, chops, sausages and eggplant
  and brush with olive oil. Grill on one side until well coloured, turn
  to cook the other side, removing each from the grill as soon as it is
  cooked to your liking.
  
  To make the dressing, whisk the olive oil, lemon juice, zest, garlic,
  parsley, capers, salt and pepper to combine. Arrange the baby spinach,
  chops, sausages, kidneys and eggplant on serving plates and add a
  swirl of dressing. Serve with lemon wedges.
