=============
Hi Ruth,

-> Well, I'd put some other reading on the same level but not a lot. I'd
-> have to ask Steve about the theology journals (text books); I didn't
-> have any of those this year. He has had a lot of "heavy" reading.

 RH> I once waded through a late 50s book on the Dead Sea Scrolls. Dead
 RH> boring was more like it, unless you're a serious Middle Eastern
 RH> linguistics

OTOH, I'd be interested in it if it weren't too heavy into the "dead"
parts--you know, the ones that even a sea couldn't dampen. We did go to
Qumron on our trip, had lunch there after touring Massada and before
going to the Dead Sea. We were given a tour of the area; there's
speculation as to if there are more scrolls yet to be found but it's
such a rugged area that hunting for them would be a major undertaking.
Did you know they've found parts of all the OT books except Esther-and
some books are rather complete?

-> That would work, if you had some steps you could set up out the
-> emergency exit so there would be a one way flow of people.

 RH> Sounds like a plan. They'd be able to move the bus between locations
 RH> too, which we do now if not so efficiently.

That way people could stop and shop. (G)

-> Since there was someone it fit and she wanted it, it was a no brainer.
-> Had she not been there or not wanted it, then it may have been a
-> potential cut up.

 RH> Even so, I'd have put it on Ebay. I do have a velvet one here from
 RH> the early 60s whose fate is going to be a quilt, but it's a style no
 RH> one
 RH> collects ... and it's brown.

Hmmmmmmm, brown, velvet--sounds like something I'd grab and recycle into
a jacket or skirt. Are you sure it's saying "quilt"?

->  RH> It's only temporary.  It's only temporary. (tears hair) It's only

-> Yes, and we can do minor things here and there to make it work better.
-> Found some "tracks" that go around the outside of shelves so we put one

-> pantry closet, it helps keep some of the canned goods steady. We can
-> take them with us or ditch here whenever we move--depends on what shape
-> they're in when we move. We also got a couple of Rubbermaid type
-> plastic cabinets. One is set up in the computer room for linens; the
-> other is in the kitchen holding some of my lesser used, odd shaped,
-> small appliances. They'll knock apart for moving but reassemble in 5

 RH> Better still, no more international weight limits to get in your way.

It wasn't international weight limits but military--based on pay grade.
In some ways, a bit inequitable since the younger, junior enlisted tend
to have the babies and litle kids that need more "paraphenalia" like
high chairs, changing tables, etc. We had a lot of stuff at my parent's
house for the first 18 months that Steve was in the Army--I had kitchen
basics but not luxuries with me. Same as when we went to Germany a
couple of years later. I stored things like a 10" cast iron fry pan
because I had another 10", non cast iron one that went with my basic
cookware set. But when we went to HI, we put nothing into storage, even
added some things over there like a cast iron dutch oven.

->  RH> don't "do" Monterrey.

-> This is the one R Monterey--the one in CA, not Mexico. We were out
-> there for Steve's language school so unless you plan on getting an
-> time there over all--a nice little Mexican restaurant was the one that
-> was crowded but they had some good food. We made several visits to it in
-> the 6 months I was there.

 RH> I doubt I'd go to either. Pressure changes and I don't get along too
 RH> well any more.

And you don't fel like driving out there (or Amtracing) just to try
either the Mexican place or any other one. We had calamari for the
first time in a cannery converted to a family restaurant and
entertainment area.

Catch you later,
Ruth
