Ärende: Part 2, again [2]
=========================
Hi Ruth,

>> engineering I guess (g).

> Bad design more like it. Good thing you had the paperwork and, more
> importantly, they acknowledged they had a bad product.

I'm used to thinking of different types of engineering, though yes, it is more
design (Architectural engineering that my daughter majored in, and aerospace
engineering - from my uncle). Same difference when you come down to it I guess.

>> There are a lot of new drugs out there now for asthma.
> Yes, I've been using Advair since 2001, relatively soon after it was put

I remember reading about that exact drug and telling Ron, darn that is exactly
what your mom needs (she had COPD and Emphasema.... :(

At the time, they said it would be 2-5 years until it was available to the
public.. Sadly, she didn't make it. I was really upset about that.

Albuterol is what helped my daughter as well, when she was using inhalents for
those fun moments.. I used one just once IIRC.. why my lungs needed it I can't
remember.. Once it was micoplasmic pnuemonia.. I was on a drug that essentially
closed down my immune system.. and so I got every infection on earth I think
(g) Anyway, that one was scary..... made me really sick. I've been off that
drug though now for about 5 years and my immune system is almost back to what
I'd call normal. Mostly :)

> I don't have it that severe.

That's interesting. The slightest cold or snotty nose would send her into an
asthma attack. The other 'agents' did not help but made things worse or more
likely to occur.

> This house has carpeting all over; I'm not

It must be short pile carpeting.. that seemed to be ok with my daughter as
well. Of course, the houses I liked, old, victorian, etc. didn't help.. but
then sometimes I wished we could afford a real 'new' house (g)

> It's not the food; it's how it's absorbed/used by the body. Same issues

I thought Priscilla's weight had do more with the fact that she couldn't
exercise much. She could barely walk, nevermind run. We couldn't take her for
walks either by then given my legs..

>> It's one of the reasons we're hesitant to rent the upstairs apartment.

Well, it looks like Lauren and Dan and the boys will be moving upstairs in that
apartment again ..I hope they do.

They were just about to close on a house (really NICE one, outside of Ithaca)
but the woman who owns it said she couldn't find a mover (??) and she wanted to
continue living in the house after the closing for like month (what's wrong
with this picture (G)). Their lease is up at the end of the month.. and it's
incredibly hard to find a rental in Ithaca... so they may be moving back
here... Not that I secretly am glad to have the boys here again (vbg) (g).

> I understand. But, with an upstairs apartment, you've got to be extra
> careful. Even if a tenant brings in his own fridge, if it "melts down",
> you could have major water damage to your stuff.

Sure, there's lots of thing like that, that could cause problems... but I don't
think there'd be a water problem. This house had had it's share and survived.
And nothing I own can't be replaced... eventually (G)

>Some folks are better
> at maintaining appliances than others; it would be up to you to decide
> if you thought the potential tenant could do so or not. Tough choices
> there.

I think that's why we don't want to do it.. who wants to make a judgement call
like that :)

Take care,
Janis
