Hi Janis,

JK> > I'll be done with school until August after tonight. One less
JK> > distraction from Fido but I've got a big sewing project due June 16.
 JK> > It's a bridesmaid dress--a simple pattern but I'm making mock up of
JK> the > bodice to check the fit.

 JK> That's a good idea.

It checked out so I got the dress cut out today. To be sewn up after we
return from VA B.

JK> > measurement on her which indicated a different size. She got me the
JK> new > pattern & some fabric to do the mock up, hopefully she can come
JK> over for > a fitting early next week.

JK> Sounds like my Mom (G).. she would do things like that to me often
JK> years ago.. but people who don't sew don't often understand how to
JK> pick the correct size pattern (which measurements are important for a
 JK> particular garment).

I know; I had to make a dress for me 2 sizes above what I wear in RTW.
Fit great, it's a copy of one of my favorite dresses from a mail order
place.

>> growing.. I haven't weighed him in a while, but he's getting 'huge' in
>> my eyes :) I'll let the vet weigh him at his next visit, which should
>> be pretty soon.

JK> > I presume the vet has a walk on scale. Don't want to be lifting any
 JK> > hefty dogs there.

JK> When he came for the puppies the first time, he brought in a baby
JK> scale.. I laughed when I saw it, but each pup fit in it just fine -
JK> then - :) I doubt either one would fit in that now. If necessary I
JK> guess he could do what we normally do.. weigh ourselves alone on out
JK> bathroom scale, and then with "a pup" :)

That's one way to do it. The way that pup has been eating tho, he'd
more likely have to weigh himself, then him w/you riding on his back.
(G)

JK> > My parents did end up on the floor a few years back when the
JK> > slats broke. They spent the rest of the night in the guest room and
JK> > realised how bad the mattress was there---I'd been trying to tell
JK> them > that for the previous 20+ years.

JK> Sounds painful but I guess they couldn't tell from looking at it... We

No, not by sight but you would think that it would sink in after a few
years that the mattress has a definate valley in the middle.

JK> use a queen size air mattress when the boys come to visit, that works
JK> well. When they fight too much ("he touched me!!" (g)), one goes on
JK> the couch and one goes on the mattress (grin).

Girls can be like that too.

JK> > That's the time. Trouble is, storms are so unpredictable & neither
JK> Dad > nor Mom can move fast enough to get to him at the first boom.
 JK> He's
JK> > usually gone by the time they get outside.

JK> Aw poor guy.. probably terrified as well.. then again, maybe he
JK> thinks it's a game.. they do that sometimes (g). These puppies
 JK> certainly do (haha)

No, it's not a game with him. Partly a result of his early upbringing.

>> other, eat each others food, etc. Well, except for Sophie. She does
>> NOT like the kitties sticking their face in her food dish, so they
>> don't do that often (g).

JK> > Smart kitties. Just hope the pups realise that the kitties aren't
 JK> an > appetiser.

JK> Definitely.. I was out working in the garden beds today (got tomatoes
JK> in with basil in between, and planted more green beans) and the pups

Good--hopefully no tomato blight this year.

JK> were of course watching my every move.. the kittens were outside
JK> already hunting behind the shed.. I put the tomatoes and basil in the
JK> caged area to keep the pups from destroying them, and watched as lizzy
JK> climbed up the fenced 'kennel' and walked like a tight-rope walker
JK> along the top.. she looked like such a huge cat, I couldn't believe it
JK> was her at first haha.. but I guess all the kitties are getting quite
JK> 'grown up' (g). Good thing too, since the pups are also getting

How old are the kitties now?

 JK> bigger and bigger :)

And eating more and more.

>> warranty that applies. If I'd read the online comments about that
>> range, (they were really really bad), I wouldn't have ever bought it.
>> Turned out to be one of the nices ranges I've owned (g).

JK> > Sometimes what other people consider a problem, isn't really. A lot
JK> of > the time it's something that hasn't been pursued to the right
JK> solution. > Too many people give up and get a new (range, dishwasher,
 JK> computer)
JK> > whatever if the one they just bought is giving them problems.
JK> That's > why we took the Focus in 7 times for the same problem & on
JK> the 7th time, > the head technician advised trading it in. Others
JK> would have given up > after the first couple of attempts failed to
 JK> correct the problem.

JK> Know what you mean there.. when I read those reviews by customers
JK> who'd purchased the stove, I couldn't help thinking they had no idea
JK> on how to adjust the burners, or perhaps their husband had installed
JK> it, and messed things up because they didn't have the proper tools.
JK> The repair man who came told us how many times he'd seen something
 JK> like that happen.

It happens probably a lot more than we hear about. Guy thinks he can
hook up a range or dishwasher w/out reading the instructution boook.
Big bill by repair person. (G)

>> We have one of those in the basement that was used for ages before we
>> got the washer/dryer machine upstairs that Ron installed. It's one of
>> those machines that is both a washer and dryer in the one machine.

JK> > We want to get one of those units for my parents, to go with the
JK> > downstairs bathroom re do. But, it's a moot point since they don't
JK> want > to redo the bathroom. And, the load time isn't too much longer
 JK> (if it's > only 2 hours, 3 is about 50% longer) than a normal
 JK> washer/dryer cycle.
