I have alternatives to the box grater too.  My favorite it a Tupperware
one (German Tupperware); it has a plastic framework and 2 grater plates
that snap in with an assortment of holes. They originally had it with
plastic plates; I bought one but didn't like it. A few years later, I
mentioned it to a dealer & said that it was a good idea but would be
better with metal plates. She told me that they had come out with an
improved model with metal plates so I ordered one.  Mine is about 20
years old & going strong.

I'll have to look up the cake recipe, post it and how I put it all
together.  It could be done with other fruits but we like it best with
strawberries.

I think it would be interesting to research, even if it's no longer part
of your family.  You added to the history of the place.

You won't know until you start looking.  Just about all newspapers have
web sites; how much they carry or can steer you to it the big variable.

The Philippines.  The land was leased and the lease holder wanted to
raise the cost of using it quite a bit.  Enough so that Del Monte
decided it wasn't worth the cost of growing, especially when they coud
import so inexpensively.

Sounds like the one seafood place we liked then and now (2007 was our
last visit) on NC Hwy 58 a few miles north of Cape Carteret, NC.

type folks.  Sounds like it wasn't tho.

That's always a good sign.  I've been able to turn around in all of our
but some have been small enough that it only took a few steps to go from
one end to the other.  Even the one in Savannah was about that size.
