I also like the Schnuk's house brand tomatoes - I haven't checked out the USDA
establishment numbers to see who is packing the product for Schnuk's. I just
looked at a can in my cupboard to see if they are using HFCS (they don't) and
found a box of Stagg "shelf stable" chilli that wasn't totally "shelf stable"
as the box was bulged pretty badly. I think I'll leave it outside for the
possums from the Bird Sanctuary across the road to enjoy and hopefully get
botulism from.   Bv)=

Carol Shenkenberger says she sees them in Virginia Beach ... so their territory
must be expanding. And they are closer to New York than Virginia (being from
Elwood, IN). They may be in your area.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
  
       Title: RO*TEL Spaghetti Sauce
  Categories: Sauces, Chilies, Wine
       Yield: 2 quarts
  
       2 tb Olive oil
       2 md Onions; chopped
       4 cl Garlic; minced
      28 oz Can whole peeled tomatoes;
            - cut up
       6 oz Can tomato paste
      10 oz Can RO*TEL diced tomatoes
            - and green chilies
       2 tb Dried basil
       2 t  Dried oregano
       1 tb Sugar
     1/2 c  White wine
  
  In a 3 qt saucepan, over medium-low heat, cook onion
  and garlic in hot oil until onion is tender, stirring
  occasionally.

  Stir in remaining ingredients except wine; heat to a
  boil, stirring occasionally.

  Reduce heat; cover and simmer 15 minutes.

  Stir in wine and simmer 5 minutes.

  Makes about 1 1/2 quarts sauce.
