I'm doing what I can - from 50 miles away. It's frustrating sometimes. But, I
know I have to hang in there, even if G never responds. We do what we can ...
and life sure has dealt her a tough hand.

Not from this specific recipe. But, it's near enough to what I usually do with
pinto beenz as to make no "never minds". I usually use a TB or so of Mexene
(used to be Chilliman) chilli spice and half that much of good cumin (which
isn't called for in Brother Walter's). Almost a meatless chilli (which may be a
contradiction in terms  Bv]= ).

The quantity of red pepper (usually cayenne) is not specified, so one may vary
the heat according to taste without going too far off the track of the recipe.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Mac's Pinto Beans
 Categories: Beans, Pork, Chilies
      Yield: 6 servings

     15 oz Can tomato sauce
      1 lb Dry pinto beans
      1 lb Bacon; sliced, raw
      1 lg Red onion; chopped
      4 cl Crushed garlic
    1/4 c  Brown sugar
      2 ts Worcestershire; or more
      4 ts Rogelio Bueno Authentico
           - Adobo
 
  Put beans in crockpot and add water to cover plus 1 cup or
  the amount you would want for juice. Let beans cook till
  they start to soften then add everything but the adobo and
  let cook till done. Add salt and pepper to taste. 

  I sometimes add 1- cup of beef broth instead of the water as
  I like the richer flavor. If using the broth I'm careful
  adding salt. 

  We serve with fat slices of buttered French bread and pour
  the beans and juice on top of it.
