======================
Hi Ruth,

Catching up again. The big sewing project is done; now to get caught up
here before we take off again.

-> Or Cabbage Patch Kids. Our girls had them, thanks to Steve's mom. They
-> liked to outfit the dolls from yard sales--a lot of stuff for a little

 RH> I remember those things. A friend used to work for Coleco; she still
 RH> has the only Cabbage Patch Kids that talked. They were a prototype
 RH> that was never put into production.

Probably just as well. (G) Rachel bought a 25th anniversary edition one
for Sarah a couple of years ago. The dolls looked like they still came
from a cabbage patch, even 25 years later.

-> not into scrapbooking but both Rachel & Deborah are, and have lots of
-> stuff. I wouldn't know what to get them except maybe some paper.

 RH> Fancy corner punches are always good.

They probably, between the 2 of them, have every shape that's come out.

-> Need to fine tune the set up a bit tho so I don't have to pull out
-> everything else on the shelf (larger pots) to get to them.

 RH> My big one is under a pile of other stuff, including two small ones.

My biggest one (12 qt Revere stainless steel, triple core bottom) is in
another cabinet where I can get to it easily. It stores the vertical
chicken cooking racks, including one for xxxxcan chicken.

-> RH> If that were true, I'd think there would be a Goya or hispanic

-> I didn't look thru the store that well; there may be one. Mom & Dad say
-> they've been open over a year & are still rearrainging/remodeling.  They

 RH> I don't like places that move everything constantly. The exception is
 RH> the local asian grocery. Some of their stuff is in random locations
 RH> anyway, so you expect to have to hunt for it.

I don't think the new operators quite know what to do with a store in a
very rural area. (G) It looks like they want to set up a new shelf
arraingment but haven't quite figured out one that fits the traffic flow
of the locals yet.

-> RH> Aldi's carries mostly their own generics. If you don't want those
->  RH> you're out of luck.

-> They also have a limited selection of non grocery items, which is what
-> we want when we go to them. Got a food warming tray last fall that
-> holds 3 1.5 pans or a single hotel pan. It came with the former; we're
-> going to buy the latter from a restaurant supply place sooner or later.

 RH> Those items are sometimes in the store, and sometimes not. Is it an
 RH> electric tray or does it use sterno or the equivalent? They had the

It's an electric tray that came with the inserts. We found that it
could hold the hotel pan when we took it to church to use for something
there. Church has a couple of those size pans but no covers; we want to
get one with a cover.

 RH> electric ones out in the 50s and 60s that held whatever size pot was
 RH> placed on them.

My mom's older sister & her husband gave my folks one of those one year
for Christmas; I think it was in the mid 60s. It had a "hot spot" but
even that didn't seem to get too hot. Then, too, most of the time my
parents used it was in the winter--just to try to keep part of supper
(usually the meat) a bit warmer. I wouldn't be surprised if they still
have it in amidst all the "stuff" in that house but I don't think it's
been used in years, if it is still there.

Catch you later,
Ruth
