==========================
 -> And ordinary e-mail doesn't suit?
 RH> Not always. It's not real time, for one thing.

Oh. I generally didn't need real time and still don't.

 -> pretty common for people to be social in the electronic context
 -> and not in person - and I've met a few for whom the reverse is
 -> true, who clam up under the influence of computers.
 RH> I know a few of those too. Then there are the ones who don't shut up
 RH> no matter what medium they're using.

When I stay at my (now former) conductor's, sometimes the phone
rings, and I monitor the answering machine (once in a blue moon
the call is for me, but more often it's someone like Jackie).
Last time the caller was an erstwhile squeeze of his, who
wanted to know what time the fireworks were going to begin,
but in the course of asking this told her life story in
detail with numerous bizarre digressions and in general
started sounding like the Watney's Red Barrel monologue.
After five minutes I was tempted to grab the phone and tell
her to stfu. The interesting part is that about a dozen years
ago, we were having a party at Jackie's, and I missed the last
bus, and I was casting about for a crash pad, and I was hoping
even then for Jackie to invite me to stay, but she didn't; the
two people who did were my conductor and this chatty person,
who was at the time on the prowl, and I almost took her up on
it (would have ruined my life for sure) but ended up taking
the conductor's living-room couch, a better choice.

 -> Fresh pineapple - that sounds like bromelain sensitivity. With
 -> supermarket seafood salad, you don't know where it's been, or when,
 -> or why.
 RH> Could be. It wasn't seafood salad - why they marked cooked and
 RH> marinated octopus "salad" is a mystery.

Because in Europe and suchlike places, all marinated cold
things are called salad.

 -> DS> One of two things happens to drinking folks as they get older.
 -> DS> They become more moderate (as I have)
 -> Ever go out for a couple of beers after work on a Friday and wake up
 -> on a tropical beach with a beard? [g]
 RH> Jim, Dale always wakes up with a beard, unless he's shaved it off
 RH> recently. The beach part is something Dale will have to address
 RH> himself.
 ->       Title: Zombie
 RH> That said, this looks lethal. Light rum, dark rum, triple sec, and
 RH> rum 151 ought to be enough to send even Michael's head spinning.

It would take more than one zombie to turn Michael's head.
Even a hot one, such as ssszzzz... that Tina Fey lookalike.
