Ärende: We're back

Hi Dale,

The one recipe (which I will post separately since I am in the middle of
rearranging things and haven't had time to enter it into MealMaster yet)
called for additional spices. I wanted just a simple bit of salt with
the smoke for the first batch.

DS> Didn't you say that you have a chipper? Is it easy to catch the

We do, but I chopped what I used with a hatchet. It would have been too
much to get out the bigger chipper, and the branches I have are too big
to go into the chipper section without being split first. If I did use
it, I would just put a bag on the output chute to chatch the chips. It
is made to do just that.

DS> Did you smoke the nuts using water in the pan or dry?

Since I wanted the nuts to be crunchy in addition to being smoked, I
left it dry.

DS> I am letting the two branches you gave me dry out down in the
DS> basement. Then I'll have to figure out how to turn them into chips
 DS> and/or sawdust.

The smoke generator I ordered should allow me to use a few larger chips
or small chunks in addition to the smaller chips. I should have it in
the next day or two. I figured out how to mount it. I have ordered a
spare chip loader from Masterbuilt. I will modify that to allow me to
mount the unit. The plate I got from you will be used to fill in and
support the unit. I will send pictures once I get it mounted. The good
thing about doing it this way is that it will not require drilling
through the body of the smoker and it will be removable so that I can
use the factory parts when I want to. Depending on how well it works
out, I may end up using it for all of my smoking, cold, cool, or hot.

Regards,

Stephen
