=====================================
Hi Carol,

 > CS> Yup! It's all gone now. When it cools a bit more, I can second crop
 > CS> some lettuce easy enough. Say, late August?

 > Sounds good to me. We're supposed to have a couple of days this week
 > just below 100 on the thermometer but over, factoring in the heat index.
 > Not the kind of weather to be putting in more lettuce.

CS> Could have theis week but next week or 2 would burn it out.

It's supposed to be just about 100 for the next couple ofdays here, then
cool to the low 90s, maybe upper 80s by next week. Not a good time for
a garden here either. The herbs we bought and planted are just barely
holding on; I might get a season's worth of cooking out of them but no
drying for the winter.

 > So did we; it was nice. Yesterday & today's high was only 78. (G)

CS> It was a chilly78 today. Closed up and put on a robe and such.

I wasn't that bad, actually enjoyed the cooler weather. Wore jeans tho,
instead of light weight slacks yesterday.

 > Yes, and she had the AC for when it got really hot (all those cooks
 > doing their thing). We had no AC at either my parents or Steve's
 > brothers houses; there were several days when we really could have used
 > it. Several times we took off at night for a drive in the air
 > conditioned car just to dry us out a bit (high humidity from being right
 > by the Erie Canal & old, water filled quarries).

CS> If we got there again, I load the spare portable AC in the car trunk.
CS> She would have liked to have it. Mostly she just needed my old
CS> fashioned stand up fans we had on the porch.

Anything to keep the air moving! We had window fans in western NY but
they just moved hot air.

CS> We used fans last week due to no breeze. Misrable to have pollen just
CS> hanging about in the air.

Time for me to stay inside.

 > We've got both the grocery and big box hardware, within a few miles of

CS> Only Lowes here gives the discount.

Nice, isn't it? Easpecially for good sized purchases.

 > but Raleigh does. We're heading there on Tuesday for medical
 > appointments, followed by some shopping at Whole Foods Market and JoAnn

CS> Sure, big city so it's all here someplace or other. Finding it can be
 CS> a challange, but it's here someplace.

That's where the GPS is handy.

 > CS> driving part. Instead, we are using a professional outfit in town

CS> Naw I start but they take over the real scary stuff.

 > CS> take classes in commercial truck or bus driving there later which is a
 > CS> spiffy easy job skill. Cost is 350$ so for 150$ more, she gets much
 CS> >
 > Does she want to do that or is she still thinking about the military?

CS> Military but extra options are good.

Always. Steve didn't have too many other job skills that were
translatable into actual work before he went into the Army. Got a few
that do give him job options now. (G)

 > CS> better than some HS football teacher in the off season. For 50$, they

 > My high school driver's ed teacher was killed in an accident some years

CS> Sorry about that. Hsd one who taught drivers ed and yelled at us new
CS> drivers almost causing accidents. He mostly let the boys drive and we
CS> just rode around in the back getting credit.

We had to work for it! Parallel parking--drive the teacher to the post
office, park. Drive him home to drop the mail off, park. We did get out
on the road but way too much of the other.

 > CS> Gotta score me some dog biscuits (grin).

 > And Daisy cat will look on and laugh at the mooch pooch.

CS> Whst, kitty? Naw. She's an innocently little white virgin!
 CS> (Guffaw!)

She might have been in my lap when things were quiet had we congregated
in the front part of the house.
