Shhhhh!  Don't tell anyone, or durians will be banned from entering the
country.   They are already under suspicion by the US Navy as poison
gas canisters, so you don't want the Feds arresting the Asian grocery
owners as being "pushers".  If they check with SE Asian police forces
they will find that durians are specifically banned from being brought
into airconditioned hotels or aircraft in most countries in the area.
My nose is not unduly sensitive, but I have followed the scent across
two blocks in Singapore to the shop selling it "ready to eat".

In the Philippines they are banned from carrying on aircraft, but that
doesn't stop many travellers.   On one occasion when I was travelling
from the centre of durian growing, Davao, to Manila, while waiting at
the airport carousel for my luggage, one lady's box burst open and a
dozen of so durians burst out.  Very embarassed, and with a red face,
the owner picked them all up and re-packed.  There were airport
security guards present, but they studiously looked the other way.  It
was a Friday, and perhaps the thought of having to look after a dozen
ripe durians over the weekend discouraged thoughts of confiscation.
(My own durian was better packed, and so escaped detection.)
