So where do they get off using the word "sugar-free"

Surely "sugar-free" apple syrup would be as nasty as
"sugar-free" maple syrup.

I think you may have hit it on the head. It's not clear
to me (no experience in this realm) whether 1 Tb maple
flavor would mask the appliness of 1 c apple juice
concentrate, but someone might think so. And somewhere
along the line somebody may have made the obvious but
wrong correction of "apple" for a mistyping such as
"mapple," perhaps influenced by the apple concentrate,
and things got worse from there.

Ritual and placebo effect probably have a lot to do with
this, as they do with many medical things ... the role of
the head in healing is just being explored recently. I
suppose one could do a study in which was compared the
effects of white raisins dyed brown vs. regular raisins
vs. cranberries, and the relative benefit of 8 raisins as
opposed to 10 or 6.

But the putative therapeutic benefit of the juniper
should depend on the dosage rather than the concentration,
no? And anyhow, once the dose hit the digestive system,
the concentration is out the window, unless you're positing
a sort of antihomeopathic effect.

      Title: Apple Butter Bread
 Categories: Breads, Fruits, Apples
   Servings:  1

  1 1/2 c  Flour                               1    Egg
      2 tb Flour                               4 tb Melted butter
      2 tb Baking powder                     1/2 c  Apple butter
    1/2 c  Brown sugar                       1/4 c  Milk
      1 ts Cinnamon                          1/4 c  Apple cider
    1/2 ts Nutmeg                            1/2 c  White raisins soaked in
    1/2 ts Salt                                2 tb Orange juice

  Preheat oven to 350 F. In large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar,
  spices and salt. Make a well in center and add egg, butter, apple butter,
  milk and cider. Mix quickly. Add drained raisins. Pour into greased loaf
  pan. Bake for 45 minutes.
