Ärende: one meat ball!
======================
Hi Janis,

>> I'm pretty sure now she's using regular bulk whole wheat flour now...

JK> > That's what I did until we got our mill. We bought it in 25 or
JK> sometimes > 50 pound sacks. I then transferred it into gallon freezer

JK> Sorry! Mis-typed there :( She's buying whole wheat kernels not whole
JK> wheat flour, and still grinds it. She fills large airtight
JK> tubs/cannisters to keep them fresh for long periods.. I think she
JK> freezes some? I forget now.. I'll have to ask her about her storage..
JK> But I'm pretty sure that's what she's still doing. They get all their
JK> dried goods bulk that way in large quantities.

No problem; we all have days like that. We buy about 10-12 pounds of
wheat kernels at a time and stow them in the freezer in smaller
quantities. We grind a smaller bag's worth for a loaf of bread and
extras about once a week. If I had better storage, I'd buy a lot in
bulk but............leaving the area in less than a year means we'd have
to eat it all quickly.

JK> > most times just filled the bag. (It held about 5-6 pounds anyway.)
JK> It > then went into my big freezer until such time as needed.

JK> Right.. She has some flour ground in her freezer I believe.. that
JK> could be gluten though.. probably is.. they do buy that bulk as
JK> well... which of course you'd want to protect. They make a lot of
JK> things with gluten, roasts, snacks, etc.

I just use a bit (about a quarter cup) for bread making.

JK> > Yes, I know. We did it with 2 girls--belonged to a natural foods
JK> co-op > in NC that helped on the grocery bill. Orders were taken to
JK> be able to > buy in bulk, then it was split up among the members.

JK> It really does help when you have a number of people like yourself
JK> buying supplies. They have group in Binghamton and one in Ithaca
JK> combined including us, which orders from one organic source for some
JK> bulk organic things, etc. and it's great..

It was a big help then. They even took food stamps, which we needed for
a few months the year before Steve went into the Army.

JK> a > week or so ago as seen by the yellowing bruises all over it.
JK> There is > also arthritis and, because of the damage, I can't kneel on
JK> it or bend > it past 90 degrees. But, I can walk on it which is an
 JK> answer to prayer.

JK> Without too much pain I hope... if so, I bet that's a relief.

It's doing better now. The foot (left) is acting up again but I've been
on my feet a lot the last few days. That's another part of my body that
will never be the same.

>> live on Anacin around here it seems some days :( Or at least it seems

JK> > I've got some harder stuff; it's been used plenty in the last few

JK> If your knee hurt like my ribs did when I fell on that chair here last
JK> Christmas, I know just what you mean by heavy duty.. they usually work
JK> ok for me but knock me out.. of course if you hurt that much, who
 JK> wants to be awake.

Most of what I use doesn't knock me out any more, tho at times I wish it
would. It'll take the edge off the hurt tho.

>> too. I agree with you, it wouldn't pack them as well :) MeatBlob? :)

JK> > There's just something about a hand rolled meat ball too. (G)

 JK> haha yep :)

They have character. (G)

>> can compare it to some of the other mixers out there we were talking
>> about earlier.. like the Bausch (think that was one of them wasn't it?
>> I forget now
>> :)).. There was another one you were looking at as well that I can't
>> remember the name of though ..darn (g).

JK> > One was Viking; don't recall what the other one was (but yes, I know
 JK> > there's a 4th).

JK> Right, I think we were talking about the Viking vs Bosch or Kitchenaid

There was one we saw at a Williams Sonoma that looked pretty goo.

JK> etc.. I sure spelled that funny above :)

Phonetic spelling--can't be standardised but lends to fun reading at
times.
