Another sister makes bread in her machine... but she does most other
baking from scratch... cakes, pies, you name it...  :)  I never did get
a machine... when I do get around to baking bread I do it by hand...  :)
Some breads you do have to have a bit of a feel for... others don't seem
to matter as much.

That might be a possibility... one of the unknown factors at this point
is whether I'd be coming by myself or if Richard would also be able to
come... and also whether we'd need two cars, for him to return early if
he does come, or if others that need to only stay the weekend might be
heading back to Rochester and could take him.  I probably would need to
stay with Janis if I was there Friday night... we'll be renting a cabin,
not using our own trailer or tent (not having either, for one thing).

Yeah... keep your options open.  ;)  I should be able to plan, once we
get closer... usually things will fall in place eventually.  :)

Nah, not an RV-er.  Nor really much of a camper (I prefer to have
something solid under, around and over me... ;) ).  I might have
problems with the smoker smell, but that depends on how strong it is. 
But plain/fancy is never an issue...  <G>

I dug out my recipe for the oatmeal bread... it's below... :)  I don't
know how it would transfer to a bread machine... ;)

ttyl    neb

Oatmeal Molasses Bread  (makes 4 loaves)

2 cups       quick rolled oats
3 1/2 cups   boiling water     Put on oats, let mixture stand till lukewarm.

2 pkgs       yeast in
1/2 cup warm water   Let rise.

Mix:   2 tbsps salt  (or less)
       1 cup   light molasses
       2/3 cup melted shortening  (if oil, use less)
       2       well-beaten eggs
Add warm oats mixture and yeast mixture.
Add about 10 cups flour.  Knead 7 minutes.  (dough will be sticky)
Let rise for 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
Punch down, make loaves, let rise in pans 45 min - 1 hr.
Bake in 350 degree oven 45 minutes.

I've made this with old-fashioned oats, and it works just as well.
If desired, raisins can be added to the oats along with the boiling
water, a cup or so depending on how thick with raisins one wishes.
