==================
Hi Nancy,

RH> training. (She's on active duty with them in AZ, the Phoneix area.)
RH> The longest we lived any one place was in AZ; we don't even have a

NB> Here's the back story... My parents moved to Rochester the summer
NB> before my senior year in high school, as Daddy took a job teaching at
NB> RIT. Since his kids got tuition free there, that's where I went to
NB> college... and met hubby there. Before he was through completely, he

I met Steve thru a Bible Study for deaf students at NTID 36 years ago.
Both the college he was going to (Roberts Weslyan) and the one I went to
(Houghton) had participants as well.

NB> had taken a summer job at Kodak which turned into a full-time one, and

Most all of Steve's family (and he) have worked or are still working for
Kodak. Dad retired from them about 15 years ago, the Elm Grove plant.

NB> we ended up staying in Rochester. But before that, I'd never been in
NB> one place more than 6 years... Born in PA, lived across the river in
NB> still here... ;) And that my parents never up and moved again...

My parents moved to Margaretville about a year after they got married.
They've been there now for just about 57 years and it doesn't look like
they're going to move. OTOH, I've lived there, NC, CA, TX, Frankfurt
and Berlin in Germany, MA, AZ, HI and now in GA. Dad has had a garden
most years he's lived there; I've had a small one in a couple of places.

NB> now live with my sister in Bloomfield, just outside of Rochester (near
 NB> Victor and Canandaigua).

OK, I know the area. We've picked up the Thruway (or gotten off)
sometimes in Victor.

NB> summer NB>> camp, and we've enjoyed his "fresh-from-the-tank" milk

RH> Is that the Gilbert Lake Camp Area you menitoned? Our church used to

NB> No, this will be the first time we'll be going to Gilbert Lake, the
NB> family had been going down into PA to a private campground in Gaines
NB> (on Rte 6), but needed to find a place more handicap-accessible for
 NB> Daddy
NB> this year. Hubby and I own property up in St Lawrence county (NYS,

I see. Enjoy this one; I've not been there in over 40 years so it's
probably changed quite a bit.

NB> near the Adirondack Park preserve), part of which he inherited from
 NB> his
NB> grandfather. Our friend lives near there. :)

Another pretty part of the state, with heavy winters. We've never been
stationed at Fort Drum; I don't know if I could take the winters there
with my health.

NB> drive there NB>> isn't insignificant). So, yes, I know whereof you
NB> speak... and miss NB>> it also.

RH> It's worth it for the milk. When we started, we were about a 15-20
RH> minute drive away. A move out of town added another 10 minutes or so
RH> to it so we tried to combine trips with a bit of grocery shopping in

NB> Our friend's farm is near where we go for church when we are up
NB> there... when we were younger, we were able to be more active there
 NB> during the
NB> week, so we would combine trips that way. The store where we shop is

Easy to do; we're combining more trips these days.

NB> only(!) about half an hour from the camp, and the farm still another
NB> 15 minutes away. Back then, we'd also be up for at least 2 weeks,
 NB> often
NB> with the weekends at either end as well, and didn't need to just veg
NB> at the camp for the time we had there... <G>

But you could veg if you wanted to. (G)

RH> station for him, I had to change our younger daughter's diaper. We'd
RH> not planned to be out so long so I'd not brought any clean ones (I used
RH> cloth) along. Good thing I'd bought a roll of paper towels--a few of
RH> them made a good improvised diaper for about half an hour until we got
RH> home. (G) The milk was't affected by the extra wait to get it into the
 RH> fridge.

NB> Fresh hath its benefits... :) And necessity IS the mother of
 NB> invention... <G> A memorable experience... :)

Yes, I'm glad I had to get a roll of paper towels that night. I've
always bought the plain white ones except for the short time I was able
to get the unbleached (whole wheat is what we used to call them),
recycled ones. Those were the white ones.
