Hi everybody!

Michael is visiting for a few days and we're having a 
grand time running about just like we knew what we 
were up to!

He arrived late on Tuesday evening and I picked 
him up at the curb...then it took us more than 
30 minutes to get back to the Freeway as there
was construction going on the roads and LOADS
of traffic All of whom seemed to be competing with
us for a spot in the lane we were in. Needless to
say the 18 wheelers win that arguement hands 
down and our progress was slow till we actually 
got past the construction and back on the freeway.

Wednesday we got up and saw Anne off to school
and Michael and I did some local errands and then 
off to Seattle. First was Pike Place Market for 
some chicken gizzards. Michael and I like the same
little spot where the chicken gizzards and livers are 
always a favorite. A little bit of walking about and 
we were at the Perrenial Tea Room to pick up some
teas for Annie. Then back to the car to look for 
a lunch spot; one of two BBQ spots I had noitced
near the Ballpark where I work. We chose Mack's 
BBQ joint...I had the East Carolina pork sandwich
and Michael chose a two meat dish, Pork ribs and 
beef brisket. All in all, a good sized disappointment.
My pork was sliced pork loin, not pulled or shredded.
No evidence of smoke flavor in the meat at all, and 
while the sauce was moderately decent and slightly
vinegary, it was a far cry from an Eastern Carolina 
sauce. Michael's ribs were the best item we saw 
that day and they were only slightly smokey. 
Over all we both decided that while nothing was
awful, nothing stood out as more than tolerable 
and it's not likely that I'll go back (although Anne
would probably like it).

Then we went to one of my favorite wine 
shops to pick up some wine, and from there
south to Federal Way to find a beer shop 
I had seen...named oddly enough 
99 bottles! While there we picked up
several beers to sample over the next few
days. Then south to my local liquour store
(state run) to pick up a bottle of good
single malt scotch for me. I chose one I
am familiar with; Glenmorangie 18 year old.
I've had most of the other glenmorangie's and
enjoyed them and since there seems to have been
a lag in the market for single malts, prices were down
and I got the 18 yr old for less than $130 (used to be
about $200). Michael picked up a bottle of Lismore
single malt and he tasted it later, but I haven't 
yet. Then home for steak dinner!
