================
Hi, Ruth!

RH> Congratulations! Your wrist will be swollen, sore and jusp plain
RH> unco-operative for a few weeks. Therapy would probably help but try
RH> soaking it in warm water, then wrapping it with a warm towel several
 RH> times a day.

I've really not been doing too much with it, but it's been popping
every so often and I am able to pick up a nearly full gallon of milk
with it for a few seconds at a time. I'll do the warm water/towel
treatment you suggested. From previous injuries that involve
swelling, I know that works and I don't know why I didn't think of
that.

The oddest thing is that my fingers hurt (the bones). It's really
hard to explain, but there's an ache-an intense, distracting ache-that
will last for a few minutes. I can stop it by holding my hand on my
chest, pressing my thumb under my index finger and pausing for a few
minutes (the same position as if you were in a sling).

RH> Been there, done that, surprised the therapists with my high tolerance
 RH> for pain inducing exercises.

I'm having mostly just aches, but every once in a while, I'll move it
a little too far and I'll quickly and painfully realize that I
shouldn't have done that. I have a spot, about the size of a silver
dollar (if the dollar was placed squarely over the carpul tunnel
ligament), that is 100% numb. But I'll slowly get the feeling back.
Just a weird feeling to have.

RH> I've not been on it (guess I should give it a look see) so can't offer
RH> any suggestions. Big one tho--don't overdo the typing or other work
RH> with the wrist as it is still healing. It's easy enough to do without
RH> realising you're over doing until a few hours later.

If you do, leave me a note. Due to problems with abuse, the board is
at 100% manual validation, meaning that until I mumble the magic
words, you've got no access to the main board. However, since you are
one of the "QWK people" I have, I do have a special "fast QWK" menu
that will let you go directly to it from logon, get your mail and
leave without going into the main menu. You do have a choice to
continue on if you so desire though. If you want that, let me know
and I'll set it up. Oh, your account will be "permanent" and not
subject to the upcoming 60-day deletion rule...so you can always use
my board as a backup.

I know telneting into a board is not as easy as point-and-clicking,
but I'll be around. In fact, soon, I'll be changing my Fidonet feed
to feed directly from Janis, so I'll have a guarenteed good feed
(until Janis's system decides to burp <G>).

Suprisingly, I have gotten this BBS to run fairly smooth-during the
time immediately after the accident, I've had to do precious little to
it except validate users.

RH> Probably the best for you, as well as eating light, healthy meals.

I'm eating less (smaller meals) and trying hard to keep to a schedule,
but my work schedule is rather strange and my body has a hard time
keeping up with it.

RH> Be careful, one ton soup can be heavy to pick up. (G)

Yes, but it's rather filling! ;)

Now here's something I'll pass on, but my wife seems to want to make
this:

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

Title: Cafe Kati's Mango Spring Rolls
Categories: Thai, Appetizers, Fruits, Noodles, Ceideburg
      Yield: 8 Servings

           Stephen Ceideburg
      2 oz Thin rice vermicelli
      8 Rice paper circles (8 1/2
           -inches in diameter)
      4 lg Lettuce leaves, ribs
           -removed, leaves halved
           -lengthwise
      1 lg Carrot, shredded
      2 Mangoes, peeled and sliced
    1/2 c Fresh basil leaves
    1/2 c Fresh mint leaves
4 oz Fresh bean sprouts (1 cup)
           Spicy Thai Vinaigrette
           -see recipe

Soak vermicelli in 2 cups warm water for about 15 minutes. Drain and
  set aside.

Dip sheet of rice paper in warm water (approximately 110 degrees)
and
transfer to work surface that is covered with a damp kitchen towel.
Wait about 30 seconds or until wrapper is pliable. Place a lettuce
leaf on the bottom two-thirds of the rice paper, leaving a 2-inch
border of paper on the bottom.

Place 2 tablespoons vermicelli, 1 tablespoon shredded carrots, 2
slices of mango, 1 tablespoon each of basil and mint, and 2
tablespoons bean sprouts on top of the lettuce.

Fold up the bottom 2-inch border of rice paper over the filling.
Fold
upward again to enclose the filling. Fold in the right, then the
left
edges of the wrapper. Continue folding until a tight cylinder is
formed. Transfer to a serving tray and cover with a damp paper
towel.
Continue filling and rolling until all ingredients are used up.

Serve with Spicy Thai Vinaigrette as a dipping sauce.

Note: If you are in a hurry, simply julienne all the filling
ingredients; toss well to combine and use to fill the wrappers.

  Makes 8 spring rolls.
