Ärende: house re do
===================
Hi Janis,

JK> of > forever to go away.

JK> Yes, it did.. I don't remember how long it took, but it was a LONG
 JK> time :(

It can take several months.

>> of thing.. .. something like that at least (g). We thought about
>> making a new bathroom off our bedroom (there's a mudroom next to it
>> now that we could steal the space from) but who knows if we'll ever
>> get to that :) It would make things easier for me..

JK> > Sounds like you've had fun fixing that place up, with lots more to
JK> do if > you want.

JK> When we bought this house, it was with the intent of fixing it up to
JK> suit our taste maybe 5 years down the road or so... in other words, we
JK> knew we wouldn't be able to do it right away, after we moved in.. we
JK> looked for a place that was mostly livable at purchase. This one fit
JK> that.. so that's why we took it... that and we could fit everyone in
JK> here that we needed to at the time :)

Sounds like you did quite a bit of looking before you found that one. We
thought about buying here (before we moved) but after we got here,
decided to live on post. We're not going to be here long enough that
buying, then selling a house would be worth our time/money.

JK> is, > the shower stall took room from the closet so we had the
JK> smallest closet > in the house.

JK> Ah - Yes, that's probably what will happen to the mud room.. :) That
 JK> won't be too bad I think...

The mud room is probably bigger than it really needs to be anyway.

>> hope not, really.. I could see sticking around here for a bit (grin).

JK> > I don't blame you, with all the work you've put into it. OTOH, I
JK> > couldn't take NY winters any more.

JK> Hehe :) To me, the winters here are nothing like they were when we
JK> were kids.. Do you remember those winters when the snow was 5 ft. on
JK> the ground? The most we got this winter was maybe 5" or 6" ... maybe
JK> :) and that was only once that I can remember :) The winters around

I do remember some of those winters. Then there were others when we
didn't have that much snow. My folks live at the head of the Pepactin
reservoir--we could gauge the extent of the drought by how low it was.

JK> here at least are a lot milder than they were in Orange County and
JK> Sullivan County :) And sadly I do much worse in a warmer climate than
 JK> a cold one...

As long as I have air conditioning, I can survive a warm climate. I
need the air dried out as well as cooled.

JK> > Yes, it was all the same basic costume in various colors and sizes
JK> so > they went fast. Not quite as big a project as the dresses for

JK> Yes, once you got the basic "pattern" done for one, I expect you
JK> probably were able to almost mass produce them? :) I about did that
JK> when I made the diapers for my daughters baby.. I was turning those
JK> guys out really fast after a few minutes (grin).

You didn't have to change the thread or wind a different color bobbin.
Sometimes when I do projects like that (using lots of the same color of
thread), I'll pre wind several bobbins. I couldn't with the costumes as
I never knew what color fabric I was going to get. Most folks supplied
their own thread and told me to keep the extra.

>> You don't see them at any of the national chain sub shops, but you
>> often see them at smaller Italian sub shops.. they stuff a long sub
>> roll with eggplant parmesian that's been baked as above, and cover the
>> opening of the sub with mozzarella cheese, then heat the sub until the
>> cheese melts :)

 JK> > You're making me droooooool! (G)

 JK> It IS good :) :)

I'm going to have to look for one. There are a couple of small chains
here (Baldino's Jersey Subs, for one) that might have it.

>>> > Neither of my two Italian cook books, nor even Joy of Cooking had a

JK> Hmm.. thought Joy did.. have to check the newest edition.. I have a
 JK> couple different editions here..

>> Yeah, I love eggplant done this way.. if only my legs could stand
>> there long enough turning the slices :) :) Well I can.. it just is a
>> pia :) but when I get hungry enough or want it bad enough, I deal (g)

JK> > Get a kitchen stool; they help, believe me.

JK> Have one :) Sometimes it's just too awkward though :)

I know, I don't use mine as much as I could. Still, I'm glad I have it.
