There are bacteria which can feed on anything, including iron ore.

Think of all the chemicals which are used in hydroponic gardens!
(Here, the main crop grown that way is marihuana.)

I recently saw an interesting BBC doco on the treatment of MRSA by a
doctor in Tbilisi, Georgia, with "phages" - viruses which penetrate and
destroy bacteria.  Associates in USA are developing that method
further, but it is expected to be years before it could be passed by
FDA.  If that method lives up to promises you should be safe.  In the
meantime, sufferers could join the other patients travelling to
Georgia, where the procedure has been used for several years.

My choice to remain healthy is to try to avoid hospitals and
antibiotics for as long as possible, and to expose myself to mild
levels of common bacteria to maintain my antigen level. So far so good.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Gupta - Beef Patties
 Categories: Russian, Beef, Georgian, Ethnic
      Yield: 4 Servings
 
    3/4 lb Stewing beef
    1/2    Stick of butter
      1 c  Raisins
      1    Potato boiled
    1/2 c  Shelled walnuts
    1/4 c  Chopped parsley
    3/4 ts Salt
           Black pepper to taste
      1 lg Egg well beaten
    1/3 c  Fine dry dread crumbs
           Parsley sprigs
 
  Bring beef to a boil in cold salted water, skimming foam from surface.
  Simmer partially covered, for 1 hr or until tender.
  
  In a skillet melt 1/2 the butter. Stir in 3/4 cup of raisins then cook
  covered over low heat until plump approx. about 10 mins.
  
  In a food processor coarsely grind together boiled beef, boiled
  potato, walnuts, remaining 1/4 cup raisins & parsley. Stir in salt &
  pepper to taste, then the beaten egg.
  
  Shape the mixture into 12 flat, oval patties, about 3" long. Dust
  patties with bread crumbs on both sides.
  
  Melt remaining 1/2 of butter in a large skillet & fry the patties
  slowly until browned, turning once. Arrange patties on a platter &
  sprinkle the plumped raisins over them. Garnish with sprigs of
  parsley or use cilantro.
  
  *NOTE: These Georgian-styled hamburgers are eaten plain without bread.
