Hi Ruth!

> We had a high humidity day (with thunderstorms) yesterday. It was also
> around 90--not the weather I like.

Really, I can understand that. Well, today was about 88F.. when we got up at
8:30 it was about 73.. we knew it was going to be a hot one. It's 8PM and it's
85F now. What weather. First no spring, then REALLY no spring (g) ah well, what
can you do. My tomato plants will be more than happy as long as they get some
rain, which they are supposed to tomorrow or tonight :)

Tomorrow is supposed to be worse heatwise.. so we went to the local mart and
picked up all the important things (read: icecream !!) (g)

>>> > I know the feeling. I can get wiped out in a few hours.

>> This was especially nice since Ron's aunt pulled out all the photo

> Fun! We visited one of my dad's cousins in Florida last year. She had an
> old scrap book of family, including some pictures of when she visited
> our family. I was a baby or toddler in some, pre schooler in others.

That's neat. Were you able to show them to your children? My kids always
liked seeing pictures of the two of us when we were kids.

>> be.. but you're right, most of them are sad. If you're careful, you
>> can find some good food there. I really prefer the restaurants though

> This one seems to cater to the American taste expectations. We've not

That's great when you can see the food being prepared, and know it's not just
being 'uncanned' or defrosted or whatever it is some establishments do to food
these days (g).

>> to the buffets to be honest.. we have a few good ones that serve

Yeah, can't get in though :(

>> though is the korean restaurant though.

> We enjoyed the one here but miss the hole in the wall on every other

_That_ sounds really neat :)

>> don't. This is the Atria Assisted-living Retirement company or
>> whatever.. hard to imagine..

> I'd start beefing about it to higher up than just the facility.

The state of Florida no doubt has an State Commisioner in charge of these
facilities, and that is who we are planning on contacting. If not, we can look
federally.

>>> > I know, my dad never talked about it.
>>> Lol :)
>> > OTOH, you should have tasted what Dave S. made last summer. That

>> You'll have to describe it for me :) I will admit to being a little
>> "afraid" (bg)

I _may_ skip that recipe (laugh).. then again, my curiosity may get the better
of me :) :) It certainly doesn't sound "spamish". (g)

> At the time, yes. I still like to have them within my sight. Right now,
> we're living on the coastal "pancake" as Steve calls it--not a mountain
> in sight--sigh.

Wow. That must be very strange for you...

>> hope Lol.. I did hang out in the mountains since the drum corp I
>> belonged to played up there quite often (parades, etc.). Ron and I
>> knew so many of the same people when we first met, it was uncanny.

> After I met Steve, I met one of his high school class mates and one who

> instructor.

For us it was one of those, oh, you were in Monticello that year? Then you must
have met... that kind of thing ... And I had known them and been good friends
with them .. and so had he.. but Ron's and my paths never crossed because he
was 3 or 4 years ahead of me.. It was just one of those things... same thing
with the books we'd read, it was just one of those things every time we turned
around it seemed (g).

>> Through meeting people in the drum corps, I'd stay up there in the
>> summers sometimes with friends I'd met.

> Nice to get up where it's a bit cooler. (G)

Well, when you're playing an instrument (I played drums, was a drum sgt) in a
parade in the summer sun in a uniform with those ridiculous hats and boots, you
boil, no matter _where_ you are - Mountains didn't help :) but after the
parade, when it was time to goof off, yep, it was cooler then :)

>> I do love the view driving up to Binghamton.. even moreso the view
>> driving to Delaware County... incredible views of the catskills..

> For sure on the latter! Especially in mid September thru mid October.
> (G)

Yeah, those are the most spectacular months, that's the truth! The Delaware
River really looks so neat as well :)

>>> died. The farm was in Eureka before they flooded it for the resevoir

or worse!

> The "carrot" at

No kidding! I'll never forget hearing the people of Sullivan county talking
about it and talking about it... they still do to this day. I don't blame them
one bit. :(

Take care,
Janis
