Well, that would be an interesting leap of faith, from evidence
clouded by ten thousand miles' distance. Most small restaurants
here of this type are run by Latins of various types, and these and
larger ones are staffed largely by Central Americans (including some
Mexicans, but as likely to be Salvadoran as anything else). Anyhow,
the cuisine in Mexico, contrary to Richard Condon's testimony, is
far from the hottest in the hemisphere.

I am perhaps unused to the bacterial strains that are endemic
to our seat of government.

The former shrink, to whom Jonathan continues to refer in the present
tense, though it's been years since they've seen each other, is the
most notable one who gave the diagnosis of schizophrenia; it's not in
Jonathan's self-image's self-interest to go back to the guy.

The Scotch itself has become a pretty standard firewater.

Germiny a l'oseille
cat: soup
servings: 4

3 oz sorrel
butter
6 egg yolks
4 oz cream
3 c white consomme

Wilt sorrel in butter. Set aside.

Combine egg yolks and cream; let simmer on
low flame "until the preparation gives signs
of boiling."

Meanwhile, heat consomme; add sorrel. Add
egg mixture and stir over low flame until
hot but not boiling.
