He still wanted a finger in the pot, hunh?  ;)  It does indeed seem a
nice echo to keep ties with.  :)  My introduction to echos was from my
interest in genealogy, and my son pointing out that genealogy echoes
existed.  Nowadays those echoes have mostly dried up, but I've stayed in
the Fido scene with echoes such as MEMORIES, and now COOKING.

I heard of those, too... but never experienced one...  At least Richard
didn't go on many business trips, maybe 2-3 in all the time he was at
Kodak...

It was.  It was her first time at a conference like that, I'd been
before, but it's always fun to do...  Lots to learn, and it attracts
very interesting vendors as well.  Plus, it's fun and encouraging to be
with lots of people doing the same things you do.  :)

My very first genealogy conference was in Baltimore... and I had already
been active in the GENEALOGY echo for a while.  The best part of that*
conference was meeting in person the friends (especially from that area,
as they came in droves, and had been very active in fido as well) from
the echo.  We definitely had the feeling of meeting family.  I had had
to go alone to that conference, but didn't feel alone for very long...
it only lasted until I found the first of my friends from the echo!

I suspect that even if I hadn't popped in here, I'd've felt at home at
your picnic, since I already know a number of the participants from
other parts of Fido.  :)  But, by popping in, I get to meet more of you
ahead of time... (G)

Apparently your birthday is in, say, late July?  :)

I imagine you do...  Good companionship is a treasure... 

I can't think of any time that the cost of the meal would be the most
important factor, for me anyway... particularly the idea that the more
it cost the better it would be... :)  The quality of the food, and, yes,
the company are what make it enjoyable and worthwhile.  :)
