=============
Hi Nancy,

RH> Kinda/sorta. I've enjoyed sewing for years. I started out mostly
RH> garment sewing but with an occaisional quilt. In HI I did more quilts
RH> (baby quilts for special needs/hospitalised babies) than clothes; here
RH> it's a fairly even mix. Right now I'm doing a pink nursery set for the

NB> I've done sewing in the past, too... Learned how in high school...
NB> Made a lot of my own clothes, and a few for my son when he was little.
NB> I kinda enjoyed it, but not like some of my sisters, who still sew all
NB> sorts of things, including clothes of all sorts, linens, even dolls.

I only had sewing in junior high home ec--8th grade. My mom got some
fabric from the only store in town that sold it--the fabric would fray
if you looked at it cross eyed. I didn't finish my project and almost
flunked home ec because of it. Now I sew most any and every thing.

NB> Other interests took over for me...

I keep coming back to needle, thread and fabric.

NB> stinks. At NB>> least we had some breeze yesterday and a bit of
NB> breeze today... that NB>> helps some... :) Now, if we were further
NB> south, like in MD or VA, I'd NB>> expect this sort of weather this
 NB> early... ;)

RH> No, actually it should be about 10 degrees (more or less) cooler than
RH> it is now for this time of the year. July and August are the hottest
RH> and humidist in the south east.

NB> Ok, I'll admit, I was* exaggerating a little... 'Twould have been
NB> more accurate to say that further south this would be LESS out of
NB> normal than for us... :) Not only is high nineties (and 100+ even)
 NB> unseasonable
NB> for us in early June, it is still not common for July or August,
 NB> either... ;) It's upstate NY, remember... ;) I know, the whole
NB> eastern seaboard plus has been sweltering, earlier than normal... and
 NB> we'll
NB> probably be cooler than normal when it should be hot... not that I'd
NB> mind that* all that much. (G)

It's moderated a bit here but expecting major thunderstorms tomorrow and
Monday. To top it off, a power pole went down on one of the islands near
Savannah--woodpeckers ate away at it, causing it to fall and knocking
out power. One ice cream place had just finished making 50 gallons of
ice cream--they lost it all before the power came back on. I think
they're looking for a generator now.

RH> I'm glad we have central air
RH> conditioning; it makes the inside bearable. The car we have is only
RH> the 2nd one we've ever had with AC; looking back, I sometimes wonder

NB> We haven't got AC for the house. An attic fan and fans for the
NB> upstairs bedrooms is all. We hope for cool nights so that we can open
 NB> the
NB> windows and let the cooler air in, and use fans to help exhaust the
NB> hot air... generally it works, except when things don't cool down at

That's what my parents have--and yes, I can remember some of those
really humid nights that don't cool down.

NB> night... which was happening there for a while... Thankfully, that
NB> heat wave broke, we got things cooled down again, and even though it
NB> was back in the nineties today the house isn't too bad yet. The cars
 NB> have AC
 NB> though. :)

It's almost a standard now.

NB> RH>> ... Myth #1: The computer only does what you tell it to do.
NB> Actually that is a truth... but the myth is that you told it to do
NB> what you WANTED it to do... (G)

RH> My favorite line ever since Steve got the Commodor 64 is "the computer
RH> is only as smart or as dumb as the one using it". (G)

NB> As in, GIGO... :) The computer, besides, is awfully literal in its
NB> interpretations of what you say... (G)

Very true, it has no brain of its own, despite what some peole think.
