A friend of some years (Naomi Ortiz - who some may remember posting here) has
sent me a link to to twenty worst things (healthwise) in America to eat.

I am so greatful to her for the twenty new leads to tasty grub.   Bv)=

1. The Worst Food in America: Outback Steakhouse Aussie Cheese Fries with Ranch
Dressing

2. Worst Starter: Chili's Awesome Blossom (Onion Blossom)

3. Worst Nachos: On the Border Stacked Border Nachos (I'll have to do a road
trip for this. We don't have an On The Border handy.)

4. Worst Pasta: Macaroni Grill Spaghetti and Meatballs with Meat Sauce (Drat!
No Macaroni Grill, either. Not yet)

5. Worst Pizza: Uno Chicago Grill Chicago Classic Deep Dish Pizza (I do get to
Chicago once in a while. And who the hell ever claimed that pizza was supposed
to be health food, anyway)

6. Worst Fish Entree: On the Border Dos XX Fish Tacos with Rice and Beans
(here's that place I don't have access to, again.)

7. Worst Chicken Entree: Chili's Honey Chipotle Crispers with Chipotle Sauce
(We do have a Chili's - which I have avoided. Now, I suppose I'll have to go
dodging yuppies and try it out.)

8. Worst Chinese Entree: P.F. Chang's Pork Lo Mein (Nearest P. F. Chang's is in
St. Louis, MO. (Richmond Heights, MO) which I get to occasionally)

9. Worst Dessert: Chili's Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream (A
third reason to brave the yuppies it Chili's)

10. Worst Breakfast: Bob Evans Caramel Banana Pecan Cream Stacked and Stuffed
Hotcakes (You can find a Bob Evans at darned near any freeway off-ramp. Too bad
I'm 'llergic to nanners)

11. Worst Steak: Lonestar 20 oz T-bone (I've been meaning to give the newish
Lone Star here a whirl. They just go advanced in the queue)

12. Worst Burger: Carl's Jr. (Hardee's, too) Double Six Dollar Burger (Remember
I have told y'all about the goodness of Hardee's burgers? I have had this bad
boy. It's a meal. But, apparently the reviewers missed seeing or weren't
offered the double 1/2 lb. Ultimate Burger w/cheese and bacon. A true artery
clogger - but, you'll die happy.)

13. Worst Salad: On the Border Grande Taco Salad with Taco Beef (I'm gonna
Google the nearest store for these guys. 4 Illinois locations. All in the
Chicago area. Lunch at Pizza Uno then dinner at one of these locations.)

14. Worst Sandwich: Quizno's Classic Italian (large) (Aw, c'mon. Youse guys
aren't even trying. Jimmy John's, Bellacino and Bread Stretchers can all kick
this sammiches butt.)

15. Worst Kids' Meal:  Macaroni Grill Double Macaroni 'n' Cheese (Don't tell my
mom that Mac 'n Cheese is bad for you. St. Louis or Chicago again.)

16. Worst Mexican Entree: Chipotle Mexican Grilled Chicken Burrito (We've got a
brand new Chiotle's ready to open. I know what my first order will be.)

17. Worst "Healthy" Burger: Ruby Tuesday Bella Turkey Burger (Another yuppie
heaven. I don't care for turkey burgers so, I think I will pass this one.)

18. Worst Supermarket Meal: Pepperidge Farm Roasted Chicken Pot Pie (whole pie)
(Read, good flavour, really tasty instead of "worst")

19. Worst Drink: Jamba Juice Chocolate Moo'd Power Smoothie; (30 fl oz) (Once
again I think the list compilers pulled this one out of their nether reigons
and didn't even try to find anthing worse. I can think of about six examples
without straining)

20. Worst Fast-Food Chicken Meal: Chicken Selects Premium Breast Strips from
McDonald's (5 pieces) with creamy ranch sauce (Oddly enough I agree - but, not
on caloric or fat, or salt content. Just on taste. This is pretty horrid)

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal Master(tm) v8.06

      Title: Baked Onion Blossom w/Dill Sauce
 Categories: Onions, Snacks
      Yield: 1

MMMMM--------------------------ONION--------------------------------
      1 lg Sweet onion
      2 tb Butter; melted
      2 ts Dijon mustard
      3 tb Plain bread crumbs

MMMMM--------------------------SAUCE--------------------------------
    1/3 c  Mayonnaise
    1/4 ts (or more) dried dill weed
    1/4 ts Garlic powder

  Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

  Peel onion; cut and discard root end. Leaving bottom intact, 
  cut almost through onion from top down to from 16 wedges. 
  Place on 12-inch square sheet of foil. Bring foil up and 
  around onion; crimp edges to seal. Place in 9-inch pie pan. 
  Bake at 425 degrees F for 20 minutes.

  In small bowl, combine butter and mustard; mix well.

  Remove onion from oven. Open foil; fold down to make a 1 
  inch high rim around onion. Brush margarine mixture over 
  onion. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Return to oven; bake an 
  additional 15 to 20 minutes or until crisp-tender.

  In a small bowl, combine all sauce ingredients; blend well. 
  Refrigerate until serving time. Place baked onion on serving 
  plate. Serve with sauce.
