   I mis-spoke.   Rob Swindell's BBS has nothing to do with it.   It is
   Gaylen Hintz's BBS that I posted from, and where I saw the missing
   messages from Carol.

   Last night I downloaded a large QWK packet from there and compared it
   to what I have received here on my system.   Turns out that the four
   messages from Carol on the 16th were the only ones at 288/34 that I
   had not received.   I am willing to conclude that it was some sort of
   a one time glitch, perhaps a bad packet some where.

  ?  I never got the four missing messages from Carol on my system.   I
  cannot see the MSGIDs on messages at 288/34, only on messages on my
  system.

  As I said, perhaps it was an intermittent error.  I'll keep watching
  to see if it happens again and raise a flag if it does.

      Title: African Sweet Pea Soup
 Categories: S.african, Soup
      Yield: 6 servings
 
      2 c  Chopped onions
      1 ts Minced garlic
      1 tb Vegetable Oil
    1/2 ts Grated fresh peeled ginger

MMMMM---------------------------SPICES--------------------------------
      1 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Ground black pepper
    1/8 ts Cayenne pepper
      1 ts Ground coriander seeds
      1 ts Ground cumin seeds
    1/4 ts Ground cardamon
    1/8 ts Ground cloves
    1/4 ts Cinnamon
      1 ts Turmeric

      2 lg Tomatoes, chopped
      2 c  Diced sweet potato
  3 1/2 c  Water
      3 c  Fresh green peas
           OR
      1 lb Frozen
 
  Saute onions and garlic gently in oil in a covered pot, stirring
  frequently for 5 to 10 minutes, until the onions are just translucent.
  Mix in the ginger, salt and all the other spices and saute for a
  couple of minutes, stirring often.  Add  the tomatoes and sweet
  potato.  Stir well. Add 1 1/2 cups of the water and stir to dissove
  the spices and deglaze the bottom of the pot.  Bring the soup to a
  boil, reduce the heat and simmer, covered for five minutes.  Add two
  cups of the peas and simmer covered for another 10 minutes or until
  the peas and the sweet potato are tender.
  
  Remove the soup from the heat and add the remaining two cups of water.
  Puree the soup in a blender or food processor until smooth.
  
  Return to the pot and add the remaining cup of peas, gently reheat.
