Depends on where you store the box (public facility, home attic, etc),
how long you store it, how much is stored with it, etc. In our current
case, the boxes will be stored for probably about 3 1/2 years (some
less, like the new serger box) in a public unit. It's a decent rent;
couldn't buy a storage shed, prepare a proper foundation for it, set it
up, take it down (if the landlord didn't want to buy it from us,
provided he gave his OK for it to be put up originally) for the cost of
the unit over the time we'll need it. We've got more than empty boxes in
there--our luggage, Chirstmas decorations, and more.

Or they are given one and don't really have a use for it. Part of our
problem would be finding the right spot in the kitchen to store it when
not in use.
