I'm not saying I'm extremely fond of the system, but it
exists on a scale that would make it difficult to dismantle.

Perhaps it has something to do with the customary tip amount
being close to the retail price of the product, causing a
strange dissonance. Generally solved in accord with the new
golden rule, "them as has the gold makes the rules."

It's a servile occupation, waiting, with a consequent
closeness to a reward/punishment system.

It seems to be a pattern (not as widespread as you imply) -
delayed-action sabotage? improper training on a particular
line? The findings - consistent missizing and misalignment
of rivets throughout a particular body part and across a
number of aircraft bespeaks one of these.

An Ansett-style disappearance is unlikely, as Tiger's
continued existence owes to the financial involvement of
some fairly high-powered people. Ansett was simply run
into the ground by those treacherous Kiwis.

Easy alu mattar
cat: mine, fake Indian
serves: 4

2 lg boiling potatoes, diced
salted water
1 lg onion, minced fine
1 Tb oil
2 Tb tomato paste or to taste
water
4 Tb garam masala paste
10 oz pk frozen peas

Set the potatoes to boil in salted water.

Saute the onion in the oil until it is quite limp and
fairly well browned . Add the tomato paste and slosh it
around awhile. Add water to make a gravy consistency.
Add the cooked potato bits and slosh around a bit more.
Add the garam masala paste (or other curry paste, whatever
you have around the house) and slosh around so there aren't
any blobs of paste left. Add more water if necessary. Add
the peas. Cook 10 min or so and serve over rice with some
kind of bread on the side.
