Well the power outage usually lasts a while, since they often take out a
transformer while they're at it.  As to the likelihood of the ravens, in our
case, breeding longterm enough to evolve insulated wings...fat chance.  They
never learn to not sit on the power lines since their life expectancy can be
pretty short.  Fun thing, which I've not seen but heard described, apparently
is
to watch the ravens swirling over the local power station stacks in the winter.
 They love to get a lift/warmth from the steam/exhaust coming out.  Until they
ice-up.  Actually ravens are considered one of the smarter birds and are a
protected species around here for cultural reasons.  One chased our 11 pound
cat
up the stairs, wings spread wide to herd her, looking for lunch.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

      Title: Sunbeam Maryland Fried Chicken with Cream Gravy
 Categories: Poultry, Elec frypan, Typed
      Yield: 10 servings

      3 ea Frying chickens; 2 to 3 lbs
      1 c  Shortening and/or butter
    2/3 c  Flour
      2 ea Eggs
    1/2 c  Milk
      2 c  Fine dry bread crumbs
      1 tb Salt
    1/4 ts Pepper
    1/2 ts Poultry seasoning
    1/2 c  Hot water
      2 lg Onions; sliced thin (opt)

MMMMM------------------------CREAM GRAVY-----------------------------
           Drippings from chicken
      3 tb Flour
    1/2 ts Salt
    1/8 ts Pepper
    1/4 ts Paprika
  1 1/2 c  Milk (to 2 cups) OR
  1 1/2 c  Chicken broth AND
    1/2 c  Light cream
      1 tb Finely chopped parsley
           Sherry to taste (opt) OR
      4 oz Can mushrooms

  Dip chicken first into flour, coating well, then into eggs which have
  been beaten slightly and diluted with the milk, then into crumbs.
  Coat well and shake off excess.

  Preheat frypan to 360 degrees F, add fat. Place cover in spatter
  shield position. Brown chicken without overcrowding, turning to brown
  all sides. Remove browned pieces to a pie pan. Scrape out breading
  particles and add more shortening before browning next batch. When
  all pieces are browned, place chicken in frypan, sprinkle evenly with
  salt, pepper and poultry seasoning. Add water and scatter onion over
  chicken. Cover, open vent, reduce heat. Simmer until chicken is very
  tender. Remove chicken to heated platter.

  CREAM GRAVY: Set dial at 260 degrees F and boil down any remaining
  juices until only drippings remain. blend flour with drippings,
  stirring until well mixed and browned. Add salt, pepper, paprika and
  slowly add milk or chicken broth mixed with cream. Cook, stirring
  until desired thickness adding more milk or broth if necessary. Add
  parsley and sherry to taste or mushrooms. Pass with chicken.

  Makes 10 to 12 servings
